ToolMan,

Hang on, and check out 4Wheel Parts web site. The BFG MT 255/85/16 is $139. 99.

I blew out a front one, was in a hurry and put 245s back on my truck. Since I have 3 decent 255s I am thinking about buying another factory wheel from a junkyard plus 2 new tires. Then I'd have 4 plus a same size spare. When I bought them the first time I worked a super deal with the NTW tire saleman and had 4 purchased, taxed, mounted and balanced for $725

A little off subject but not really, it really cracks me up when I see people that will spend $200 for boots or $150 for sneakers on their feet and then buy off brand $35 a piece sneakers to put on their car.

Turbo Tim 1, what cracks me up even more are people who throw away their money on those outrageously priced $200 boots or $150 sneakers and then throw away even more money on name brand tires that are made by the same company that makes the off brand tires that folks like me buy for less than half the price. Oo.

Been there done that. Bought the high dollar pretty name tag tires (like Cepeck & Michelin) and found out the hard way they don't do any better than or sometime worse than the off brand tires. I will gladly take my "off brand" Walmart Liberator (Michelin made) tires for $94 each with a 40K warranty with road hazard warranty. :-laf

Anytime I have a problem or need a balance, rotate, or repair; I just drive into Wally World anywhere and I here those golden words... ... ... . "no charge sir! thanks for shopping Walmart!" The $600 I save in tire will... ... . HMMMMMMM... ..... just about pay for that exhaust brake! :D

More expensive is not necessarily better. Try'em you just might lik'em.

;)

Anyhow, best of luck with your tire purchase! ;)

Thanx GFoley! I still dunno whats in store in the future. 139. + shipping X 6 prolly puts me close if not over what I get em for out here. . I still may try out somethin' from interco. I do not need new rubber as the truck has new sneakers on it now.

Rfrazier you obviously took offense to my post, my comments were directed towards the people buying the made in Tiawan type tires, not truck tires made and relabeled by the good tire makers. I have owned quite a few pair of tires so far in my life and have had many different kinds, both off brand and name brand and I personally have had the best luck with the BFG's. That's not to say I will stick with them, but right now my choices are limited as to what I can run because I use 255/85's on my dually and the wally world grease monkeys don't carry anything in that size. I used to get 50,000 miles out of the BFG's on my 93 in both 255/85 and 285/75 sizes, nothing else could touch that with the way I drove. Show me a 255/85 that holds up as well and gets as good of traction for half the price and I'll buy it in a heart beat.

Turbo Tim 1, just razzin' ya! No offense takin'. Plenty of thick skin here. :) In the size tire you mentioned I found a Hercules Terra Trac all terrain for $115 in LT 255/85R/16/8 ply at Bowen Tire 502-683-0236. They are in Kentucky but I bet you can find a local distributor in your area for a similar price. I know the guy and he sells them to AAFES on Ft. Campbell, so they have to be a pretty good tire or AAFES would not carry them. The GI's get P. O'd fast with crappy tires. I buy my tractor and mower tires from him as well.

Rfraizer, those Hercules tires look pretty good, while looking them up look at what I found, a list of all the tires Cooper tire makes, scroll down through it it is amazing. That is who makes the Hercules.
