thinking about putting one in my truck, not because of the way it sounds, strictly for performance. I just want to hear how much it changes the sound of a third gen ;) . So if you have any clips please post them, thanks.

seems like almost everywhere I've read says it changes the tone (not significantly) to more like the 12 valve sound, which if it did would be an awesome side affect to changing a 3rd gen cam along with performance, mpg's, and cooler egt's.

Just put one in mine, as stated above... no change in sound. Should really lower EGT though. I can't tell you how much because of all the other changes done at the same time, twins, port & polished head, & 5" straight off bottom turbo.

If you want to make your 3rd Gen ISB's exhaust note sound like a 2nd Gen ISB - put a 2nd Gen ISB exhaust manifold on it and do some fancy intake/exhaust plumbing. Works like a charm and gets rid of that awful rear/low-mounted turbo position.

As the posters above said the overall sound exhaust wise is not changed with the cam.

However to the trained ear there will be some audible differences that come from the engine (not through exhaust) with the new cam/springs installed (I have had a stock cam, scheid cam, and f1 cam).

You'll basically get more valve train rattle (this includes lifters) with the hipo street cams.

No loping like some have guessed at in the past though.

Why did you ditch the Scheid cam and go with the F1?

Do HPCR engines lope if you install big connector tubes? Some VP-44 trucks seem to lope (and stall while coasting... :-laf ) a bit after doing that...
