After about 2000 miles suddenly started to sound a little more llke a diesel. Dealer did a injector kill test and determined it was the #3 injector making all the noise. Calls tech line and they say the 05's are noisey because they make more power, and that I have to much warranty left to change a injector because it is a little noisey. So go away and come back when it is broke I guess. My dealer has been good, they cleaned the injectors and set all the valves trying to figure out the noise. I don't mind the noise,it goes away after idle,I was just worried it could be something more serious.

Not sure on the 05, our 04. 5 got a little louder after the first oil change for some reason, right around 2000 miles, runs awesome though, no problems, it's at 25k or so after 7 months

j. Davy,

So I guess, according to DC, a week ago when it wasn't noisy it wasn't

making more power.

I've got about the same mileage as you, so far it has been perfect. I guess

we all hope for the best so we don't have to go to the dealer and deal with

DC , me knocks on wood :)

Ya ,It all sounds like a big joke to me and if the truck had been totally stock from day one I might be mad,but my dealer knows I like to play with the mods and has been good to me so far,so I don't want to push it to much. The only part I liked about it being Quite was all the ews and aws but oh well,it is still a diesel. Time to straight pipe it and ad some twins to drowned out the rattle.

I think mine makes more noise than my 03 did when running down the road at highway speeds. However it was hard for me to compare since my 03 had 5" exhaust that was considerably louder. But, it has sounded this way since the day I picked it up with 4 miles on it and runs great

My 2005 325/600 now has 3200 miles on it! It is virtually the same truck as the 2003 305/555 I traded. The 2005 has been "noisy" from day one!! The oil gets black within the first 50 miles after a change. The engine "knocks" like an old FORD 7. 3 and is considerably louder than my 2003 ever was, even with the underhood padding! It is also considerably "slower" than my 2003! At this point the dealer says "we can't find anything wrong"! Not a happy camper, as it is just a poor example of a new truck. Wish I had my old 2003 back. In a nutshell, It is louder, knocks, gets poor mileage, and is slower than the 2003. I guess I'll just have to live with it til it self-destructs. Our local dealer has always been very good with service on the Diesels, and my trucks are only serviced by them; but I'm beginning to wonder if I should get a second opinion.

2005 325/600, QC, AUTO, SWB 2WD, LARAMIE LOADED.

Mine doesn't seem to be any more noisy than it was when I picked it up. I'm approaching 5000 miles so far. As far as I can figure I should be able to squeak out in the 17-18mpg range in the warmer weather (even with current fuel if weather stays above 25f or so I get better mileage, below that it plummets) and perhaps even better if I were to use straight #2 instead of the winter blended junk I'm using now.

Mine seems to knock a bit more or less depending on the quality of the fuel that goes in it.

My 05' seems to make a little more motor noise than my 04', but doesn't seem to run any different as far as performance. I noticed it the first day I brought it home, almost 7,000 mi now, no problems.

After my 01, this baby is real quiet. No more noisy at 2500 than the day I picked it up. The exhaust is a deep, throaty sound. But the engine is quiet.

If I was worried about the noise I could say that I was sold on the fact they were so Quite. I was told the 05's were a lot quiter than the previous ones ,this was from Derek Dodge in Edmonton Alberta who are the biggest dodge dealer in Canada. To me this could be a selling feature, and I could not believe how much quiter my 2005 was compared to my 2003, but not anymore, however I do think it pulls harder than my 2003.

Alright Gentlemen

All that being said this 05 is light years away from my 2nd genner. Other than the dirty looking oil after 50 mile thing this thing is awesome!!!!! ;) I love the quite motor at idle not at 1900-2200 (no muff) but the wife does :-{}. Gas milage??? who cares!!!!!!! the 05 averages 14. 5 city hwy and 11. 5 towing 5 tons considerably less than the 99 how could I complain this things a beast :eek:if the gas guage says empty I put the fuel in and thats it.

Mac

Well on my 04. 5 600 the noise got louder and the idle got rougher and by 7500 miles white smoke, etc. Dealer diagnosed as bad and replaced #6 injector per STAR's instructions.

Mine did not show anything on injector kill tests or any other tests the first day when it at full running temp, showed up big time in the am of next day. If these things start happening, go find out what it is.
