ANZO rplacement headlights

My 2006 Buick Rainer SUV headlights are OUTSTANDING in comparison to the stock headlights on my 2005 Ram (see sig).



I installed Sylvania Silverstar Ultras in the Ram, the results are brighter but I don’t think that they focus any better or the “down the road” visibility is any better and not sure that they are worth the money.



Genos sell ANZO projector replacement headlights, has anybody used these lights? Are they any better than stock and are they worth the money?

anzo lights

i bought a pair fo anzo lights from geno's last year and installed them. the results were that the lighting was awful. the light patern is very defused and the light beam vibrated when you hit a bump. in my opion you waste you money. the stock headlights are far better. i put back my stock headlight assemblys with the silver star bulbs.

Federal DOT regulations also adopted by states sets the wattage ratings for highway driven motor vehicles at, I think, 55 watts. We can't legally purchase or use anything brighter or with longer reach. Spending money on aftermarket lighting in hopes of improving headlights is usually a waste of money.

The OEM headlights on '06 and later Rams are much better than earlier models. They use a different type of lamp as well as a different and improved housing.

Thanks for the response, so often the after market equipment does't live up to the advertisement. But other times it is OK.

It is simply a fact that the headlights on our 3rd gen trucks, at least throught 2005, S*ck. However, using these bulbs, recomended by Daniel Stern as the BEST 9007 bulb, helps ALOT. I also put them in the fog lights and use the fogs to supllement the low beams whenever necessary. It is legal to run with 2 pairs of DOT approved lights in CA. and the fog lights with these bulbs really do fill in the forward lighting in front of the truck. I also did the "poor man's britebox" mod that allows me to use highs,lows, and fog lights on, but ONLY when there is no oncoming traffic--

I went from stock bulbs on a '08 to Phillips Extreme Power... (9008 bulbs)
Put one bulb in and compared to other,driving and looking directly at them from 20 ft.
Saw approximately 5% to 10% improvement.
Maybe they improve light on the older '03-'05 models more.
Would return them if I didn't buy on Amazom...

I DO NOT recommend them.

This is not what I wanted to hear. I am looking at replacing both headlight lens assemblies on my '03. Both are scratched and oxidized. I've tried some of the headlight restorer stuff and it didn't work worth a crap. In addition, when I put my front end leveling kit in I wanted to adjust them down just a tad and the adjusters on both are frozen and one of the rods even broke off. I have been considering getting the Anzo replacements because I'm not real keen on paying $235 a pop for the MOPAR replacements. Now I'm going to have to rethink that. BTW, I used to use PIAA Xtreme White Plus bulbs and they were better than the Sylvania Silver Stars but also a lot more $$$. For what I got out of them, they weren't worth the extra money and they seemed to blow a lot quicker than the Silver Stars too.

Like Seafish, I used the Phillips bulbs, as well as updated my fogs to 9005 bulbs w/ adapter from Genos as well as the brite box. I love 'em. Noticeable improvement. We get our fair share of inclement weather up here and these help. I've used silver stars, these are brighter. Check your headlight adjustment as well, mine were out quite a bit... too high.

Just to clarify on the Phillips Xtreme-power, they are NOT simply "whiter" bulb (most of which actually gives LESS light but might improve contrast), but use an exactly redesigned fialment AND improved gas mixture to actually achieve more lumen output. They are only $40 a pair right now from the link above. I would have to say that I achieved at LEAST 10% greater output from them, if not more, then from the factory 9007 bulbs. My headlights are also properly adjusted. By doing the mods that I described above I have gone from complaining about night driving ALL of the time to actaully being able to see at night relatively well ALL of the time, though I do NOT live on crowded roads, so I DO often get to use the full potential of my forward lighting--High beams, low beams AND fog lights, which you might not be able to do if you drive at night with oncoming traffic more then I do.
