I am looking at a used appalchian trailer,, 3 axle 21k deck over gooseneck 20 ft long with a 5 foot dove 8 ft wide used 2003. How are these trailers, to me it looks a little cheap. I will be hauling a 14k load on it.

comments please... .

I think I would look for something with dual tandem axles instead of a triple. With that load and the weight of the trailer, your getting close to the limits of the tires. As for quality, I think they would fall in the class of entry level. Not bad, like a no name from Missouri, but not primo either.

They are decent trailers and priced right. So far I am happy with mine (10K flatbed). The only issue I have is the paint chips easily (but then again I used it when it was 1 day old, it's better now).

I agree with the comment on the triple axle trailers. They're hard as heck on tires and bearings. A dual-tandem will haul just as much weight (rated at 20,000 instead of 21,000) and you have 8 tires on the ground instead of 6. I'd rather have two 10,000 pound axles than three 7,000 pound axles any day. JMO

Triple axle trailers offtrack a lot more than tandem axle trailers of the same basic length. That makes them harder to manuver in tight places and narrow streets.

However, cost and return on investment is always a factor that may outweigh this problem.
