I have a MacBook and need to remove data

I just bought a MacBook last week and need to return it for a manufacturers defect. In talking to the retailer it sounds as if they are going to just replace it (I may go back to a PC. ) I know very little about Apple and Mac products.

I need to find out how to remove personal information fro the MacBook before returning it. Specifically, I have several website (such as this one) that automatically boot up upon opening Safari without the need to input a password. I would like to remove this information from the hard drive so that no one after returning it will be able to access my websites, but do not know where/ how to access the location of where it is stored.

Any help is appreciated.

What is wrong with your macbook? What retailer are you dealing with? I'm not too familiar with system x, I have only used it for a few months. Anyway, go in hardrive>applications>utilities>disk utility and click button erase for directions use machelp if needed. I would try to use Apple directly for repair or an authorized repair station. Check on Apple website to see if there are any recalls. To me, using a pc would be a fate worse than death!

Sorry, after re-reading your post, it sounds like what you need to do is just remove your keychain of various log-ins. Look in the utility folder above and click keychain access.

You can wipe your hard drive, as he instructed above using the Disk Utility.

You can delete your user account. Log on as a guest (make sure you have a guest account set up with admin priviledges--this is also under apple, preferences, user accounts). Then click on your regular log on name and click the minus or delete button.

And if you browse with Safari, go under Safara, choose reset Safari.

If you have an Itunes account--IMPORTANT--go into Itunes and Deauthorize the account (under the Advanced menu).
