Another quick question. . I have seen plenty of discussioni on the vent mod. I usually run the truck till I have 1/8 tank left (~480 miles) and then fill up. After several fillups that usually tops off at 24-26 gallons.

Did DC fix the tank vents or is it still needed on the 2006 models?

he vent isn't really a "fix". It just relocates the vent to the very top of the tank so you can use the "expansion" area to fill up. You can clikc the link in my signature to get the webpage and you can contact the manufacturer from there.

Sweetest BOMB yet :)

Without the vent, I can get 30 plus gallons in the tank when starting at 1/8th level in my 2006. This is with me not putting more in after the pump stops automatically.

When my DTE reading gets to 0 I can get about 36 gallons in. The most I have put in is 37. 6 gallons.

I fill that sucker till there is almost diesel spilling out of the neck.

I just got done putting in mine with the help of a fellow TDR'er. Took a couple hours. Mine sat on my bench since July '04. The only problem I have is that somehow my electrical connection is a little sketchy. It's getting power to work the pump, but somehow my fuel gauge is stuck on empty with the light on and the overhead console DTE reads "-". Then I will fiddle around with the connection and the gauge starts to read and the DTE starts climbing and then it all of a sudden starts to falls back down to empty with the light on and DTE back to "-". Maybe a loose connection, I don't know - I'm going to bed.

With the vent mod on my 06 I get ~350 miles before the gauges hit's 1/2 tank. Before that was closer to 280 miles. Filling it from 1/8 takes ~30 gallons.

Thanks for the replies.

I will definately look at getting one. Just getting around to dropping the tank and making the mod may take a bit. OF course it looks like the proper install procedure is to buy the kit and let it age in the garage for a few months anyway :-laf

Thanks again, Steven

FWIW I took the bed off and did it all from the top. If you've got a overhead hoist or 3 friends to lift the bed the whole job can be done in less than an hour this way.
