my 99 truck is running erradic and I am starting with the apps sensor to make sure adjustments where fine. I turned on the ignition and was reading the voltage and realized my torques socket was missing so turned off ignition and the meter is still reading the apps. does it stay powered with ignition off or is this a sign of something wrong?

That doesn't sound right to me. Sure you don't have a voltmeter that has a memory feature of last value? Maybe it's the voltmeter. Remove and hook it up again and see what happens.

I thought it was odd. Trying to determine if my APPS or Ecm is responsible for trucks erratic throttling. I touch the pedal, when normally idling, and truck revs all the way to 3000 rpm by itself, before I shutdown the truck. Thanks for responding.

well still more mystery to my truck. My truck ran great for a week and while on a longer drive up to the mountains after fueling my truck dies while going up the road! I coast to the side of the road and realize that a check engine code has come up also. The truck just cranks and wont start. I have with me a obd scanner and i plug it in and no reading? huh. I look all over the truck for loose wires, fuel leaking, anything odd. check fuses, and check fuel cap . Nothing amiss. Try starting the engine and it starts. cool . 25 seconds later it dies. like someone turned off the ignition switch. It continues to do this, starts, runs, with plenty of fuel pressure, then around 25 seconds dies. I have a fass fuel pump in my truck, just for info. I disconnect the batteries for half hour to reset the system and same thing. I am to far to tow, big bucks. I drive my truck to an auto shop , it will drive fine for 25 seconds, and he hooks up his diagnostic to the truck and there is no reading from the obd. I bought the ecm from a company that claims that there ecm's are tested for my vin. and reprogramed for my truck. I wonder if the ecm is screwing up, i.e. not responding to my truck. Does anyone have any idea what could be happening? seems to be an issue with electrics, maybe a bad ecm? why did it run so well for a week? This is driving my nuts!

Is the shop using a good scanner?
Was he able to retrieve a code?
If nothing will connect to the truck and all your battery connections (including grounds) are tight and clean, the 50 pin connector to the ECM is connected and the batteries are good the ECM is definitely suspect. Hopefully it came with some type of a warranty, I'd be calling them asap

I feel that is it. Just very frustrating. I've read of people going through several different units, is this possible.

It's called ALL COMPUTER RESOURCES INC. it's located in Miami. It came with Lifetime warranty with the receiving of the core.

That is excellent. Lots of shady internet sellers out there, looks like you bought from a good company. I'd give them a ring at the first of the week and see what they have to say.

Thanks for the reply. I have been told they will work with me if there's an issue. I hope that they will. I'll keep a post of the outcome.

Well the ecm worked great after I installed it for a week. The took the truck for an extended drive to look at some hunting dog pups and the ecm quite about 25 miles from home. To shorten the story I left my truck at a shop in the town it broke down in and ordered another ecm ,it was put in and I've been driving my truck for about a week. Prayers said, hopefully no more surprises.

Blue Chip has instructions on their site to hot wire the VP44 to test that the engine will run without the ECM. SNOKING
