Looks like my APPS may have to be replaced. Had a problem a few weeks ago in which the truck lost power while driving on cruise control. Set a code P0121 (APPS problem). I was suspicious of the lift pump, and had a new one on hand, so went ahead and replaced that. Truck has 130k miles. Checked the APPS and was not able to identify a problem. Problem went away, but now it's back.

Yesterday the same problem started happening again. Lost power while driving about 40+ mph. Check Engine light came on. After about 5 seconds power came back. Checked code just now. another P0121. This happened 3 times last night and this morning.

Only codes set have been on APPS sensor. Is this enough info to just go on and replace? I've read a lot of messages here, and looks like this can sometimes be related to VP44 injector pump failure, but I get no codes on that.

Where is best place to get a new APPS? Might be able to get from Cummins (I'm in Houston). Also saw a reference to Hoesli Diesel (have it for $354)

What do you guys recommend?

I am running two 99's that both came up with that same problem within a few weeks of each other. Whenever it would act up it would send out the code. I would clear the code and all was well for a couple of weeks until it happened more often. Finally replaced the APPS and all has been good. I believe the going rare for the sensor was about $295 with a shop discount.

I just talked to local Dodge dealer. Price from them is $455 . . ouch... Wonder how I could get a shop discount... ...

Cummins here is closed until Monday. Only other dealer I know about right now is Hoesli Diesel, who has it for $355 on web site.

There is a local parts dealer not far away who may have the part. Will have to go look, though. hard to tell from them. This place is recommended by a friend here who ran a diesel repair shop for years.

Think I will go out and check the thing over. Maybe do the calibration procedure that I saw some people here say sometimes helps.

Does anyone here know of any better sources for an APPS???
