APPS-TPS trigger wire for a 05???

Hooking up my BD BOV (blow off valve) tonight, and the 05 has a electic drive by wire set up. Bd's instructions don't say where I can pick up the TPS signal.

Since my throttle is drive by wire, there are 6 wires at the pedal. Anyone know which one is the apps-tps signal?

Hrmm, interesting switch. I am looking at an 05 manual and it looks as though there are 2 that are for signal. Must be one is a back up because they are labeled as signal 1 and signal 2.

Actually now that I look again that is for sure what it is because there is 2 of everything-

5v supply x 2

signal x2

return x 2

The #1 signal wire is on the #5 pin and is BR/WT

The #2 signal wire is on the #2 pin and is WT/BR

Cool Matt, I assume that either are usable for my TPS requirement?

I noticed in the 04. 5 book that there was only one 5 volt point, but several taps for the TPS,

Does the 05 books show that #1 and #6 are 5 volt?

What is a return wire do? If you have 5 volts feeding the switch, wouldn't the TPS wire be considered the return and not the signal?

Yes, 1 & 6 are the 5v supply.

The return, is the return path same as sensor ground.

The signal wire would be the one that the ECM interprets the pedal position.

Either pin 2 or 5 should do. Since its an add on devise I would pick pin 2 thinking the ECM primarily looks at Signal #1 on pin 5 and if its lost then looks at Signal #2 on pin 2. That way the ECM has less a chance to be interrupted from an aftermarket devise.

be careful !!!!!!!!!!!

this is from page 14-127 of fsm.

OPERATION

The Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor (APPS) provides the Engine Control Module (ECM) with two DC voltage

signals which change as the position of the accelerator pedal changes. One of the DC voltage signals will be half

the voltage of the other signal.

Thats interesting too, based on that info might be better to use either pin 2 or 5 and select the one that goes more closely to 5v at WOT.
