Competition ARB in a DANA 80 ?

Has anybody with substantial power tried sled pulling with an ARB locker in the dana 80 rear ? has anybody broken one ? do they work in the dana 80 under sled pulling conditions ?

Looks pretty thin huh Scott? Just curious, why an ARB for the rear? Why not a Detroit or something. They are strong and much cheaper - assuming they make them for the 80.

They do make Detroit lockers for Dana 80's and one can be had for around $650.

I have had a Detroit in my Dana 80 for the past two years, I am working on something else though and was just curious how strong the 80 is.

I belive Peterson gave up on the Detroits and went to an ARB. I could be wrong, and if I am, Im sure I will be corrected on D-C.

I pull with a dana 70 arb locker, works great much beter then a detroit with the obvious disengage ability. It engages every time works like a charm very strong im pushing 750 horse power with a stage 6 ats transmission. I snapped the crown and pinnion and the locker is fine. I especially like how the parts inside slide in and out of position quickly and its built very strong. i swapped my 70 with a 80 and disc breakes so right now i just have posi, let us know how it works out im in the prosses of selling my 70 locker for a 80.

The Detroit is available for the 80, but only with the 4. 10+ carrier.



I've been tolkd you can re-drill the ring gear bolt holes and use a D70HD in the D80.

DMulock What Dana 80 did you use in your conversion I have a single wheel 3/4 ton and I blew up the 70. I have an 80 out of a 95 cab and chassis but am not sure if the widths are the same. If any one else knows please help. or has narrowed one let me know.
