Competition Most expensive "kill"

I wonder who makes the engine? We have a local Ford dealership that handles Arctic Cat, I'll have to see if he has, or is expecting any in - bet they'll be way up there in $$$...

The engine is made by Lombardini.

We have a air compressor on one of our service trucks that has a 9 horse Lombardini air cooled diesel on it. It is a good engine. They have been making engines for years and seem to have a good reputation.

I will check with a local dealer soon and post the price and information I find out.

Here is info about the engine:

Dry weight of the 686 cc is 66 kg.

I like how they conveniently left out one of the most important specifications... WEIGHT.

The 700 weighs in at 823 lbs - it uses glow plugs, and I'd sure like to know what injection setup they use. It's a twin cylinder, supposedly developed for military applications - we civilians might actually get a "perk"! Oo.

I was quoted $9200 and was also told by another dealer that it is slated for other utility vehicles in their product line. I am personally glad they are offering the diesel in a regular ATV. The Mule, Ranger, Gator, etc are too bulky, heavy and not "fun" like an atv, which I can hook up a trailer to for work, then unhook the trailer for play, all with the same (diesel powered) machine!

Its got to be better than the 700 that they came out with last year. I know 3 people who have them and nothing but problems for all. They all wished they would have gone with the 650 twin instead.

Edit: To clarify they have all had different types of electrical problems and all with the engine. They like the machine as a whole but get irritated at the small problems that have left them sitting in the middle of nowhere a few times.

I have the 700 EFI LE w/ clutch kit and 27 XTR tires only problem has been the battery can not take constant winching.

And I beat the heckout of it in the mud and for work.

That would definately be an advantage of the diesel. It is not computerized, therfore, the only engine electrical would be the starter, alternator and fuel solenoid.

It also has a higher capacity electrical system, which woud greatly help with running an electric winch or accessories.
