US Gear exhaust brake??

Jim, thanks for posting this. Coincidentally, my wife fell in love with a new Artic Fox which we'll take delivery of in late January at Manassas, Virginia. The unit we're getting was built in the former Fleetwood plant in Winchester, VA. ... . Trailer Life ran a piece several years ago on a guy in the North West who had left Fleetwood under less than happy circumstances and decided to build a better unit out there in a shutdown Fleetwood plant. Apparently the operation is sucessful and he's now expanded into the East. ... . On our new 28' unit, I like the 16" load range E wheels it comes with. My previous Fleetwood has under engineered rolling gear. (My wife likes the closet space and rear bathroom, etc, and puts tires and wheel bearing sizes way down her list... probably out of sight. Guess that's called "division of responsibilities. ")

Vic,

Your comment regarding 16" load range E tires is one of the main reasons that we purchased a new AF fiver. Our previous unit, 32. 5' Citation by Thor, was 10 years old. We continually had tire ruptures, even though the trailer weight was less than the weight rating for both tire and axle. The final straw was rupturing 2 tires in one day followed by two more before the conclusion of our most recent trip from FL to ID.

We have the 29. 5T and are very satisfied.

Vic: Welcome to the Northwood family! Nash and Arctic Fox RV's are built like tanks, and Northwood has the sense to put the correct running gear under them. We had a 1996 Nash 26J for 5 years, and now the AF 25R. Upgraded our truck from a '97 CTD as we were over GVWR and GCWR when fully loaded--like for a two week hunting trip. Join us on the forum mentioned previously, if you haven't already. Lots of good information. You have a trailer with propably the best factory support in the business. Ron Nash has his name on his trailers and they represent quality. What model are you getting?
