Competition Tips

Giving you have a DD clutch vs a built auto both with 500HP.

I gave up on going fast, and it dumb to drag race a NV5600, I just want to know if ita also a watse of time and money to build a novice puller w/ 6-speed.

I dont even want to start pulling if im going to loose every time to an auto gvin the same mods.

I'm fully aware of big HP comp guys using manuals but what about the little guys?

Thanks

Justin Williams, Bryan Prewitt, & Joe Kup. (house) all do awesome with their 6 speeds. . Bryan MAY have a 5 speed, not completely sure. Joe obviously runs a ZF6 in a Ford.

Sorry if I didn't mention your name. . Those are the few that I'm pretty familiar with.

I currently run a 6 speed and right now I'm loving life. . As long as you choose the right gear you'll do just fine. . Just make sure you get a good clutch. . My friend and I both have 6 speeds with 4:10 rears and we run 2nd High and sometimes 5th Low depending on the track with no problems. .

Yeah keep the 6 speed for sledpulling. Works good for me.

Although if I was building a 12valve puller with limitless rpm's I might have to with the auto since they have the evil downshifting ability.

What gears do you have to pull in 5th Low? I have 3:73's in mine (assume yours does to) and figured that was a final ratio of 10. 15:1. I havn't pulled yet but was thinking 4th low... . with a ratio of 14. 1:1. That 2nd high though is a nice break in the middle with 12. 6:1. What kind of power/rpms are you turning? just trying to get an idea of what mine might be like

We have 4:10 rears. 5th low works fairly well for my buddy in his duallie but his clutch is really showing the wear. . He normally tach's right at 4000 RPMS's and I believe drops back to about 3000K at the end. . I normally run 2nd High that gear has worked great for me all season long. . I leave the line at 3,500 RPM's turn about 3,100 all the way down the track and when the weight box hit's me my RPM's drop to 2,900 and I spin out. . Boost runs 42 psi all the way down the track for me. . My truck really likes that gear on most tracks because when the weight comes down I'm dead in the middle of my powerband. . I don't know what kind of speed I turn going down the track but my doors lock at 15 MPH and they are locked after I pull... Oo.
