Are all HT3b's created equal?

I'm confused after talking with several folks on the HT3b. One guy told me it was a garret, another a borgwarner... does anyone know the real scoop and what is the HT3b most commonly used in compound setups for 3rd gens? And if I'm not mistaken, it's an HT3b that Relentless uses in thier compound setups right? Are they all non-wastegated or is there a version that is gated?

There are different companies that make them. Schwitzer is probly the most common. Holset and schwitzer parts can be interchanged. Garrett also makes them to a slightly different design. There is also different compressor wheels and housings. There is a lo flo wheel, high flo wheel, and high flo wheel w/ported housing. I don't know about wastegates. Never saw one with.

It depends what you wanna do. If you aren't making much power and want a faster spool, you can go with the lo-flo and 22cm exhaust housing. If you're after power, them you'll definitly want the hi-flo ported housing. I'd recommend hi-flo ported to anybody. Non-ported versions usually have problems surging. They don't call them lo-flo and hi-flo. That's just our way of describing them. To the companies, it's just a part number.

I don't have any of the numbers. Sorry. What I have is a bht3b. It's hi-flo/ported housing. I will have to see if I can get some part numbers sometime. I'm a little busy rite now but I could give you the phone number of a local shop that would know.
