Are first gens waste gated?

Are any of the 1st gens waste gated or are they all non waste gated. Also what are the different turbo sizing for the 89 - 93 trucks?

The 1st gen's were not wastegated. That started with the 2nd gen's.



Both early and late model 1st gen's used a H1C turbos. The intake side and impeller are different between the nonintercooled and intercooled. The nonintercooled uses a rubber hose and clamp for the across engine connection. The intercooled models had a cast elbow that connected with band clamp. Then the elbow connected to a rubber boot that connected into the intercooler piping.



On the hot side housing there were two different ones used. One was a 21 cm and the other was a 18. 5 cm. I can't tell you exactly which one was used for which years. My 93 has a 18. 5 cm model.

Also the compressor wheel for the non I/C turbo is smaller than the I/C turbo.

I don't recall the numbers exactly, but I think its 52 mm and 56 mm.
