I'm getting ready to order guages (EGT, boost and fuel pressure) and was wondering if the 6' of tubing and 7' of EGT wire is enough to get to a triple pillar mount. I imagine the tubing isn't that big a deal since I figure I can pick that stuff up cheap almost anywhere. It is the EGT probe wire I'm really concerned about.

I see that TST includes 12' feet of wire with their EGT, but they are currently out of stock on the black face EGT guage I want.

What do you say?

What brand of gauge are you ordering from Genos? Autometer, Westach?. Every gauge company uses different lead lengths, Genos does'nt make them. My Autometer Thermocouple leads were plenty long enough to reach the A pillar with plenty of slack to spare.

I guess I should have mentioned I'm going with the Di Pricol EGT and boost guages. Westach for FP.

Royk,

I just installed DiPricol earlier this summer, which I ordered from Geno's. The boost tubing could stand to be a little longer, but it will work. I ended up putting the boost gauge in the bottom pod. The pyro cable is long enough, I put it in the top pod on the A pillar, and put my fuel pressure gauge in the middle one. You'll need some wire to splice for your hot leads and grounds.

I too have DiPricol, EGT and AutoTranny guages in a 2 pod pillar setup. There was no problem with the GENO suppied DiPricol Pyro line from pre-turbo to bottom pod in my 1995 3500.

The other guages I am contemplating will be in a custom holder below the Radio/CD/Arse-tray console, on the facia piece and, angled to drivers view. I like the DiPricol and intend using them here too.

We have the Di-Pricol thermocouples supplied with 7' leads and they are plently long enough. The Westach uses a 4' lead, but is one of the few pyrometers you can use up to 20' of cooper wire to extend them. We recommend mounting the thermocouple pre turbo in the exhaust manifold.

The boost gauge tubes are 10' for most of the gauges and you only need about 5'.

If you're going with Di Pricol order some spare bulbs at the same time. I have 2 gauges with the bulbs burnt out in both and now have to try and source them locally as Geno's no longer ships into Canada. These gauges were installed last April.

We have found that if the bulbs are wired so they dim with the dash lights they have not been burning out. If they are wired to a 12 volt source the voltage is too high and they will burn out.

Dave - the bulbs are wired so they dim with the dash lights. I always keep the lights on full brightness. Could this be the problem? Should I turn the brightness down a notch or two?

Thanks,

Richard

Dodger22,

You could sure try turning them down just a little to see if that makes a difference in the life of the bulbs. How are the replacement bulbs holding up? Do they last longer than the originals?

Dave - I haven't sourced them yet, we're still travelling. When I get home I'll contact the makers of the Di Pricol gauges to get a part number and possible source in Canada.

Dodger22,

Try NAPA if you have one close by, they have been able to come up with that sort of thing for me in the past. Good luck and enjoy the ride.

This literature I received after a telephone request is a bit confusing as there is a another company name on much of it albeit from the same address!?

I contacted the company direct because I wished to see what other gauge were available beyond the 3 carried bye Geno's.

DiPricol does make a rather extensive line of gauge/tubing kits/extension wires etc. ,I discovered once getting the Catalog but I have not yet contacted them about how to purchase other items either from them directly or through another distributer.
