My son has an MB 230 - 2005 - with 35000 and WARPED Rotars - Not Covered under Warranty - is this normal ??????

It is a consumable part, along with brake pads, shoes, tires, fluids, clutch assemblies, seals, and filters.

I am surprised this is not listed in bold face on the warranty paperwork, driving habits can warp rotors in a few months, as short as days if in a mountain region. Not a defect in the part, usually a result of agressive driving, stop and go, or double footing the brake gas. (All characteristics of a stereotypical benz driver :D Just kidding, only the richy rich wives en route to shopping).

if the vehicle has a damaged or malfunctioning ABS system, it can do this, but Benz is pretty good about their designs. (leaps and bounds from their peasant oriented low life diaper chrysler division. )

My understanding is that if the condition as described happened with in 12 mos/ 12K, Then it would be covered as that time/ milage would indicate a defect. Outside of the time/ milage parameters, then it is 'other than normal' driving not coverd. Other "wear" items (clutch, front end alignments/ tire wear, breake pads etc... ) are covered the same way.

It is at the dealers discretion. I know, I used to have to tell people they were going to be paying the repair bill on their vehicles just months after purchase. Don't think for a minute that a dealer won't double dip from the warranty reimbursement and a customer's wallet if they can get by with it. More than likely they will, no matter what you think you're entitled to. :(

Jeep replaced my wife's at 11 months and just over 10,000 miles. Then I replaced them at 20,000 with Bendix rotors and we haven't had any more problems.

beraks

My buddy has an 05 gas and has had the rotors replased twice because they warped. He has 18,000 on it boughit from Elmwood Dodge. Ski :)

mountain driving isn't the issue, driver is LOL ... . LIKE I SAID DEAR quit draging the damnnnn brakes

on third set O pads in wifes 2002 ML in 45K miles and no rotor issue yet . . we are on a steep twisty hill [read in fun in the snow] and live in the mountains

That late in the warrenty the dealer will most likley tell you your on your own. If you are a good customer to the dealer (had some non warrenty maintence done) you might be able to get them under warrenty.

You're talking about Mercedes here. Once it leaves the lot, you can bet you'll be charged for the repairs. My wife got stuck with a $18. 00 COFFEE BILL FOR HEAVENS SAKE. It is well beyond discussion whether it is a defect with over 15,000 miles on it. The only cause the manufacturer will warrant replacing rotors is a recurring ABS system failure. Nothing about Mercedes guarantees you satisfaction. We were told that," if you can afford the car to buy it, you can afford to fix it, this is the bill". Our E class was down the road to someone else afterwards shortly. Benz never lost a wink of sleep over this, they are a streamlined German profit machine, how else can you explain the recovery of Chrysler under their cloak?. .

Sad thing is, they are the only ones who have a reliable "in house diesel" vonthe market to this day besides VW. They'll get a chance to torque us again soon because of that.
