Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Are starter contacts replaceable?

Starter seems a little weak. Are the contacts on a 98. 5 replaceable? Any tips on how?

Yes they are- Contact www.fostertruck.com/dodge for about $40. 00 which includes s/h they will send you the desired h/d contacts- they are thicker than stock and replacement is easy as 1-2- 3!!

Glad to help out- anytime and the contact job is very easy to accomplish- the hardest part- if you can call it hard -is removing the starter, the rest is simple!

Don't forget to disconnect the batteries!!!! It's not July 4th yet- no need for any fireworks from an arcing power lead... ... .

After you get the 12-point 10mm bolts loose that the mechanical gorilla at the factory torqued down to 200ft/lbs. :-{} :{

Mine went without much trouble. Twisted off the bolt that the positive cable attaches to. Other than that, piece of cake.

I have a bad habit of doing that. Don't need no stinkin' pipes on the breaker bars either.



I broke the head off a 250 ft/lb torque wrench (and YES, I was tightening the bolt, not loosening it) Straight-line pull, too. :-laf
