hey guys, wanted to know if the front and rear diiffs on a 97 are the same on a 99. Both trucks are 4x4 2500's. I think they are , but wanna make sure. RRR

Yes and No

If they are both 5sps they both have Dana 80 rears. Both have Dana 60 fronts. Auto trucks in either year will have a Dana 70 rear.

If they both have a Limited Slip Differential rear diff, they will be slightly different. I believe one will us a power loc and one a traction loc. The older LSD seem more reliable reguarding how much the stay locked.

Hey guys, this is my 1st post.

My 99 is currently being redone after a wreck that actually bent the rear axle :{

Can anyone else backup the idea the older limited slips may be more reliable because the insurance company paid for another Dana 80 out of a 97 5 speed rather than repairing mine.

thanks in advance, andy
