In perfect condition they perform ell unloaded; that's about ALL I CAN SAY POSITIVE ABOUT THEM.

Saw this ad in Trailerlife about severe service brake upgrade packages. Dont know anything about this company but may be worth a call- EGR at 1-800-468-2279

I had an '89 1 ton with single rears and 5 speed. Sold it at 170,000 to buy my 96.
Had the original shoes on the rear adn second set of pads on the front.

Try seeing if you can get Performance Friction pads for the front.

I thought the brakes on the 89 were better than my 96 3500. Already on my 3rd set of pads on the 96 at 118K and these are worn out. The OE pads caused the rotors to heat crack. The dually front hubs do not have replaceable rotors on a 2 wd so you have to purchase the entire hub and rotor combo at about $200 each! Also replaced the front calipers at 75K as the right front was dragging.

What specific problems are you having?
