Are there better dually center caps?

2018 dually with aluminum rims. The cover on one of the front wheels fell off after bouncing around on dirt roads for a few weeks. Almost all the tabs that hold on the lug nuts were broken. I pulled the other one off and a few tabs were broken. Does anyone know of a cover with metal tabs? Or do you just run with naked lug nuts? Dealer wants $140ish for ONE cover that will break again!

GS thanks for the intro! Yup I use a bit of the RiteStuff gasket maker on every other lug nut where cap makes contact. No failures since.

Chrysler replaced 3 of mine under warranty.

I'll have to see if they'll do that for me. Not even 25K on it yet. Gasket maker sounds good.

50-75k truck held together with tape and silicone. I personally don't think that is a fair trade. Maybe they should actually make something that works. Just my opinion.

They have really come down on price, and the plastics are pretty slick looking for the parts I have seen available for the electrical industry.

Check with Alcoa...I know they have a low profile one that looks way better than the bulky Mopar ones.

And these will get you almost a mile a gallon better with reduced wind resistance.

Ok, maybe just look better.

I have been doing the the cheap silicon at home depot only on two of the lugs. I tried every other one and had trouble getting one off one time. There are cheaper places to buy them. If you don't need the longhorn ones I think someone sells them for around $60 on ebay.

I am only putting a small amount on the 4 nuts with no issue removing. Longhorn caps are over $125 ea.

I did the silicone as a temp solution...bought these last time...so far they are still holding up.

I bought the Mopar aluminum wheels for my 96 back in the day from my dealer's parts counter. While they could have used the original lugs and the center cap that was used over the steel rims along with the chrome skins, I opted for McGard Tough Nuts and no caps at all. Looked way better. If my next truck is a dually, I'll do the same - aluminum wheels and exposed chrome lug nuts.
