RE: Burning Amsoil

I have been using Amsoil in my truck since it has 100,000 miles on it. I change the filter every 6000 miles and the oil and filter every 12,000 miles. The truck will use a qt every 6000 miles which I don't consider excessive. This is a work truck not a play toy. The oil is Amsoil 15/40. The truck now has more than 400,000 miles on it. I guess my sig. will have my last mileage update, but its more than that now. I don't even think about another oil. Just my opinion.

Thank you John

But its nice to know that I am right about the high consumption with Amsoil series 3000 5w30. I did the same thing you did, went from 15w40 AMSOIL to the series 3000, and for the other posts, well lets just say that this RAD RAM never ever leaves the road. SO I know its not puking it up. I am going to try the premium blue but most likely switch back to AMSOIL 15w40. Thanks Guys . HAVE a great weekend .

I have heard guys on hear say that about the 5W-30 but I never saw it.

I bought my truck used with 26,000 miles on it, and went to the 5W-30, by 100,000, it was using not a drop, and only changed once a year. No By-pas. I never saw any excessive blow-by.

I switched to the 15-40, becuase of extra fuel, and change it often. It tends to get a touch sooty, these days.

If it lives this year, I will tear it down next winter, see how it looks.
