I love my '05.

I came from a '99 model. I love my '05 and have had only one minor wiring issue with it. I fixed it myself after the dealer said they could not replicate the problem.

I have 62,000 miles on it as of today and I have not complaints. I will say that the HPCR is a totally different animal and the '05 will probably stay stock except for loosing the muffler and maybe gauges at some point. I tow heavy, but this (325HP / 610'#) is what the doctor ordered. Any more is just to play with and to try and break stuff; I depend on the truck too much for that.

Bottom line: Buy what you want / afford and if you are gonna play, you WILL pay.

I had a 2001 2500 SWB QC 4x4 with the auto that I traded in on my 03. There is no comparison between the trucks - the 03 being light years ahead. Knock on wood, no problems as of yet, it has about 46k on the odometer. I tow around 16k in the summer, and can set speed control at 70 mph on the flats, and never have to shift out of 6th. Pulling the passes in CO, it will drop down to about 40, but that is fast enough for me. My 01 would really heat up when I towed above 10k - I could feel the heat coming up through the floor boards. The temp on my 03 hardly raises when I'm towing - even up 7% grades running the A/C with outside temps at 90*. I really like my truck, no complaints here! :)

I loved my 95 Dodge/Cummins DRW. I owned it for 10 years and sold it for $!6K. It was never once in the the shop. My 05 is head and shoulders better, more powerful and more economical. It also handles my 11'-3" cab-over-camper better. Why would anyone want to buy a ford of chevy?

I am a happy camper. Ford and Chevy make nothing I want, even if it came with a CTD.

Jun-06, 2006 Edit: 10-12 towing and 19-20 around town empty.

just turned 30K on mine, only problem I had was with the door drip edge seal being ripped, 30 min at the dealer later and all is well again.

other than that no hiccups, but there is that pesky kitty that tends to run away for some reason :-laf

edit: forgot to add in that if I'm easy I can hit 19 doing 70 and at 60-65 22mpg is no problem, and this is with 4. 10's Oo.

Better than second gen, with vp-44s and lift pumps? I'm thinking of trading. Either going diesel again or with the Hemi.

yep! very happy with the BOMB-ability... The only truck I would give my truck up for is a true diesel - a 98 12v! ;)

Stock truck to stock truck my 05 is light years ahead of the 99.

99 got 16 mpg at 65 mph

05 gets 18 mpg at 65 mph

both trucks are dually's and 4X4's.

this is my first dodge and only cummins as of now. i love the drivetrain, but the dodge has given me some minor issues. the dealerships have givven me major issues, but i just need to find a good one is all... .

would i do it again? yeah, but a dually this time.

I'd do it again in a heartbeat. Got my father-in-law in one. Sister-in-law in one. Trying to get dad. And still trying on getting my wife to agree to a MegaCab for her.

I love my 05! I had a '04 Hemi before this cummins and I made the right choice by getting the cummins. The hemi is a good motor... but 610 lbs of torque puts a smile on my face any time I think of it. I've seen about 19 on the highway and about 15. 5 in the city. I still have a lot of breaking in to do as of yet so I am really pleased with the mileage. I averaged about 13 to 14 with the Hemi, with the occasional 15 to 15. 5 on the highway.

Yeah the 98 12v :-laf Glad I have it and the 04!

I came from a 91 my first pick up, Bomed it 100% myself at 16 with the maxed out VE, POD's, straight piped and an HX40, 6in lift on 35 12. 5's. Sold it for a brand new 01 QC SB on 35's with an edge comp 60 HP injectors intake exhaust and a suncoast auto. I thought the 01 was lightyears ahead of the 91. Now I have the 04, The make a ton of power very easily and ride is about the same from going from the 91 to the 01 and now to the 04 (so far ahead in ride quality and braking!). The only complaint about the 04 is that I wish I had the Suncoast auto in it now instead of the 6spd.

Only real problem is with the U joints... ... ... ..... they suck!

Other than that it's a great truck, last truck was 98 12v(wish I still had it though). Drivability of 3rd gens are so much better.

Really like this truck. Have had a mid 90's gas Ram, 2000 Chevy 1500, 2002 GMC 2500 gas, another 2002 GMC 2500 CC gas and now the '06 CTD. This is by far the best truck- feels like a real truck, smells (slightly) like a real truck, sounds like a real truck and most of all, drives like a REAL truck. And gets better mileage than all those others.

Hey, did I mention that I REALLY like this CTD?
