Platte City, MO-Truck Pull

Last minute change everybody!!!

Okay, this year it is going to be a HUGE weekend of events in July in Colorado!!!!

July 21st we will start the weekend off with a Welcome/Kick Off Get Together at Boulder County Fairgrounds in Longmont. We will use this time to meet and greet all of our out of town guests who will be coming in, as well as getting some trucks teched in for the next days event.....

July 22nd will be the 1st Annual (if all goes well) Truck & Jeep Pulls! This event will be held by the CPSC and the ATPA (American Truck/Tractor Pulling Association) and will be sponsored by many fine businesses (interested in sponsoring? Call me). This will be an all day event with some great trucks and jeeps pulling! You will also find the International Power Stroke Diesel display trailer at this event (there are only 2 in the country). We may possibly have a truck/car show in conjunction, this is still in the works.

July 23rd will be Truck Fest drag racing at Bandimere! At this event you will find some of the fastest trucks around racing down the 1/4 mile track. The club will have a booth set up again this year, right next to the Power Stroke display trailer. This is an all day event as well.

Again, if you have a business or know of a business that would like to be a sponsor for our Friday night and Saturday events, please let me know. The sponsorship packet from ATPA is awesome.

Now for just a few of the special guests:

Brian and Patti Thompson and the BTS crew from Arkansas!

Terry and Vicki Hedrick from Precision Industries Convertors in Tennessee!

Tony Wildman our tuning guru from Oklahoma.

Zane and Casey from Wide Open Performance in Utah (tentatively).

At the races on Sunday you will see (possibly on Friday and Saturday too):

David Lott with Snow White from Diesel Innovations in Houston.

Richard Madsen (Maddog) from Utah.

Plus many other trucks that have been in hiding all winter!

(If you plan on attending, please post here, so we can keep our list growing!)

These lists are growing each day as the word gets out. Let's make this a weekend to remember and repeat each year.

See you all there!

Shay

Okay, let's here some excitement here!

I need all the support I can get to get this pull off the ground! And hopefully make it a yearly event!

I'm trying to meet the requests of many of out of state and in state folks who said they are not interested in spending two days in a row at the drag strip. They ask for a different kind of event on Saturday and they would come both days and attend Truck Fest as well. So I did.

Hopefully some others won't try and rain on our parade!!! The more folks I can get to speak out and let everyone, Bandimere, the ATPA and potential sponsors, that they are in support of this, the bigger and better it will be. And that will benefit everyone! Our truck pulls, Truck Fest, the fairgrounds, Bandimere, the sponsors..... EVERYONE!!

So, let's here it!

Shay

Shay, I am concerned that you have placed this event in direct competion with ATS's Saturday event at Bandimere "Diesels on the Mountain". We have grown the event from a one day to a two day event with the support of all of the regional diesel supporters, and have made it one of the largest events in the nation. With ATS on Saturday, and Cummins Truck Fest on Sunday, it is a huge weekend now, with way too much to do and see for the spectator and participants.

To schedule an event in direct conflict with that only divides the diesel enthusiasts. Even though I work for Cummins Rocky Mountain, we have purposely kept the Dodge / Ford / Chevy rivalry to a minimum within these events, and welcomed all with equal passion.

We have sponsored the Truck Fest for 10 years now and we and Bandimere have welcomed your club into the event, and I though you appreciated that hospitality and used it to help grow your club, it seems that you are now biting the hand that helped feed your club. My opinion.

I would ask for you to rethink this strategy and reason for scheduling this, and reconsider placing it where you would not be in conflict, such as a Friday night event, or on a different weekend.

Feel free to call me and explain your reasoning.

Even though this event was streched into two days, I didn't like the fact that it was held in conjunction with the E. T. Series on the saturday of the weekend talk about direct competition. Hopefully this year will be better. As for the event as a whole lets just say that I schedule extra time off especially for the truck fest.

Yep, it'll be the Cummins Truck Fest for me too. Bandimere, all weekend that weekend.

It would be great if there was a specific area for TDR members to meet/park and hang out. It's a "drag", that we've never had that before. Is there a RMTDR anymore?

Scott,

My intention was and is to grow the weekend into a huge weekend, just like you. But, the main reason I was getting from folks from out of the state (as well as in state) for not coming to Colorado was that they did not want to come out unless there was a different type of truck event on one of those days and sled pulls were the highest requested event. So I feel like I answered that call.

Because I have scheduled this truck pull, we now have diesel performance folks and trucks coming from Arkansas, Tennessee, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, etc... . the list goes on and on. None of these folks were planning on coming when it was just 2 days at the drag strip. They are coming because there are different types of events going on.

The first year of the Diesels on the Mountain did not prove to be a huge day. In fact, it was mostly just ATS employees and our club. I called a ton of folks from the track that Saturday morning last year trying to get them to come up and they all said that they just were not interested in coming 2 days in a row and those same people are telling me that again this year. I can understand that, but I took my club up there none the less to show my support. Plus not everyone is into the drag racing like some people are. By offering both events, I feel like we are covering the different interests. If some who love to pull can do that one day, they are more than willing to come out and watch drag races the next day and vice versa. It makes their trip out more worthwhile.

I am all about progressing the diesel events, I think I have more than proved that. I do appreciate all that Bandimere has done for our club and hope to continue working with them in the future. For the record, we did talk to them before putting the final signature on this event and they were alright with it. Maybe somebody else got them all stirred up. I don't know.

Like I said before, this can be a win/win suituation for all involved. By doing it this way, I am bringing more trucks to Bandimere and thus more spectators. I also have the International Power Stroke Diesel display trailer scheduled at Bandimere for Truck Fest. There are only 2 of them in the country and they will be paying a sizeable amount for their spot up there. So to say that I am biting the hand that feeds me is a way off base. It's definitely a relationship that I have worked hard to keep and show respect to.

You are more than welcome to call me anytime Scott.

Shay

Shay I think you do a great job of coordinating events on both our clubs behalf and I commend your efforts as it is always a blast to get together with you guys any time we can. I especially like what we do for charities at the dyno days. All I can say is keep up the good work.

Thanks for all you do,

Greg V.

Shay,

Keep up with the great job you have always done organizing events. I can only imagine who might feel that there is a conflict of interest going on. Needless to say the event at the track on Saturday sucks to say the least. They lead everone to believe it was pickup trucks only and it turned out to be everyone and anyone who showed no matter what they drove. Its just another example of how that group does things.

Hang on guy's I'm watching this I just haven't had a chance to get my opinion out there yet. I'll get on it soon.

Meanwhile, if anybody want to talk to me aobut this or has questions or concerns, PLEASE CALL ME!!!!! 970-443-3942

Seeya!

Git er done Shay!!!!!

Way to take the bull(truck pull) by the horns. I have not had the chance previously to attend both days at bandimere, but I welcome the variety of a truck pull to complete the weekend- especially if saturday is open to racers of every sort. I just don't get the same level of fun watching ricers, bikes, ect. as I do with black coal rolling trucks. My wife says git er done from a female perspective since as a spectator she welcomes variety in the weekend.

For the truck pull can Alan and I trade stylin' accessories? I have a set of steer horns he could mount on his hood while I borrow his tires and wheels.

Jordan

Thanks guys! I have always appreciated the support that I get from the "Dodge guys" more than you will ever know.

Jeremy and I will be setting a meeting time and place soon for all of us to discuss the details on the truck pulls on 7/22. The RMTDR will be sponsoring the pulls along with the CPSC, so we will be asking for help on this from both clubs. Things are coming together really well, just a ton of work.

Should be fun, like all of the events our two clubs do together. Oo.

Again, if you know of any businesses who might be interested in becoming a sponsor for this event please let me know. I almost have everything all ready as far as the sponsorship papers go, and will be distributing them soon. We already have quite a few businesses on board, but I have tried to make this an affordable event to sponsor so that the "little guy" businesses can get involved as well.

Shay

I've had a few questions lately, so here goes.....

Diesels on the Mountain on Saturday at Bandimere is a seperate event from Truck Fest on Sunday at Bandimere. So being at the Sled Pulls on Saturday will not interfere with you drag racing on Sunday. Truck Fest at Bandimere on Sunday is just that, trucks and SUVs. On that Saturday, they run the event with other series (so trucks with cars, bikes, etc all day). To race on Saturday costs $40 and to race on Sunday costs $30.

Also, the ATPA is now actually USA Pulling.

Hope that clears up a few things.

Shay

ATPA pulls? ouch. That limits this pull to Modifieds (heavily) and Unlimiteds. Nothing close to 'street' qualifies.

Just saw the rules at the powerstroke site. Are those correct? They are not close to ATPA's rules.

Also... what defines "commercially distributed hitch"? I have a HEAVILY reinforced oem hitch... so do the considerable reinforcements disqualify?

No that would not disqualify you. In fact, heavily reinforced..... the sled guys will love ya. :)

As far as the rules not being "ATPA" rules, actually they are now USA Pulling. ATPA got bought out. :D And there were a few basic safety items I had to use in our rules, but they pretty much gave me free rein on the rest of the rules. I had a big guy puller from PA pretty much do the rules and divisions up for me. I think he did a great job and made them real fair.

Hope to see you there! It will be lots of fun! Pullers coming from California, Pennsylvania, Arkansas, Illinois and lots of other places. Twin turbos, NOS, big engines, and normal every day street trucks. A bit of everything with lots of black smoke thrown in for good measure! Oo.

Maybe I missed it but what is the time schedule for the pull?

You didn't miss it. Sorry, too much on my agenda these days.....

Tech in will start at 9am, pulls will start at noon.

This Friday night, 7/7 we (the CPSC and the RMTDR) will be having a meeting at the Hooters at Loveland at 7pm. This meeting will be for everyone who is interested in helping out at the Sled Pull SHOOTOUT and/or Truck Fest at Bandimere. Don't worry if you cannot make it though, we will still use your help! :D

Thought I would also mention that the concession stand at the Sled Pull SHOOTOUT/Dyno SHOOTOUT on Saturday in Longmont will be run by..... Hooters.

That outta make you guys happy. ;)
