For those of you who run a "box" daily, have you tried turning it off for a day or so to remember the old days?

I normally leave my PE on level two or three but sometimes turn it off... let me say this, that truck is a "slug" without the extra fuel. There is no way I would pick a race with Duramax without the PE on level one or two.

Yep! and I ain't got no box to turn on and off. I just press the pedal and shift the gears. It is sometimes referred to a "real hp" #ad

Lets face it,the Duramax is still just a Chevy. If you want to race, buy a Viper,it's a real "go fast". I know I'd like to keep a Duramax in my glovebox in case I ever get caught without air in my spare tire.

It's not bashing a first year truck,Chevy hasn't made a truck since 87. I think everyone agrees the Allison is one heck of a transmission. And I really don't see why this is being dicussed in this form.

Well for one thing,a duramax is very fast,I have driven one,and it would without a dought beat a powerstroke a dodge a,d anything eles from the factory, but another thing to consider, the chevy I drove, was still a rattling squeeking, cheaply built as all the other chevy trucks or cars on the road,I couldn't believe all the noise that was coming from behind the seat, corner of the dash board was loose the seat moved when I pushed back on it,and I mean from the floor, you could here the floor pop.
I wouldn't trade my dodge for it,it won't be the engine or trans that leaves that truck on the side of the road,it will be the structure of this truck.
Anotherbad product from the famous GM.

In NASCAR aren't the cars only allowed to run "X" amount of horses? If one car has the same engine but is modified to give it more h. p. , will it not be faster.

I beleive the only true test would be to have all three engines set at the same hp.

Say, put them all at 300hp. Hook'em up to 12,000lb trailers and let the race begin.

I would put my $ on the Cummins.

I think some of you are losing sight of the same thing the Chevy engineers did..... a diesel hauls loads, its not designed to go fast. Thats why its cool/amazing/humorous when a Cummins ISB/B goes fast.

I personally don't care if a Duramax passes me in stock configuration. He'll find more filling stations, more mechanical problems, and shorter engine life than I will, even if I am cranked up and matching him hp for hp and ftlb for ftlb.

And when he breaks, I am sure I have the power to drag him home.

I don't race my truck. I bought it and built it up to pull my 5th wheel. I also like the improved acceleration over stock. I drive conservatively to save my driveline and clutch.

I have trucks pull up beside me all the time Ferds, Shevys and even other Dodges. When the light turns green, they barrel off and I just go thru the gears just like normal and smile. #ad

My nephew just bought a Ferd F-250 4X4 Powerchoke. He was talking trash about racing me. I told him he could race everyone he pulls up to a light with, but lets see how the truck holds up over time driving it like that. We'll see. :p

The real test to me is when I have my 15K lb 5th wheel running up and down the grades accross the US at the speed limit and with out any strain. Now that's a truck! #ad

But, to each his own. I enjoy reading about how everyone enjoys their trucks and to see the terrific mods they've made. #ad

If we all grew up and quit talking I TRIED TO BY-PASS THE CUSSING FILTER, it would get pretty boring and quiet around here.

Max 340 & Wiredawg - I'm behind you all the way. I'm perfectly happy to let everybody else go blow by, cause I'll pass them by when their stopped fueling up. And just think, we'll spend less money fueling our trucks due to the increased economy. They might have to leave the campground a couple days early to have enough money to spend on fuel to make it home. #ad
Plus, they'll have to trade up alot sooner because their trucks dependability will drop off WAY SOONER than our Cummins will! #ad
Let 'em all keep it to the floor, I'll have fun running 65 mph! #ad

Thought someone said something about racing a duromax? Heck, I'll even give em a couple of years to get their sh-- together. I ain't no brand basher.

I don't expect my truck to last more then 200,000 miles, if it needs a rebuild because of my driving style big deal, I'll rebuild it and continue on for another 200,000 miles. I like going fast in my Lil Truck.....

I didn't buy this truck for the milage #ad
So I don't really care if I get 18mpg or 13mpg, I'll drive the same way I always have.

I'll race... ... ... ... ... ... ... I am too young to grow up yet #ad

HiPerf360-

What are you talking about?

Crazy Horse-

I'm not sure if your talking to me for posting on this forum or a response from someone else. The post is relevant to this forum because it's about a 24V running a Power Edge.

I'm saying, don't underestimate the competition.

I've run several different power adders and combinations on my truck. I've driven at least a dozen of the competitors trucks but not the Duramax. The Cummins runs like a scalded cat when it has enough fuel. Take a stocker and go race the competition.

Just to chime in my 2 cents . . I saw and heard my first DuraMax today.

The suspension seemed to be leveled nicely, infact I thought the truck was a 4x4 from the front height. But the body fit and paint are still GM though.

The engine compartment wasn't as cluttered as with the superdooty. . and the engine wasn't as quiet as folks advertised, maybe 1 or 2 db less than the PSD. In fact it sounds just like the stroker . . but without the knock.

It's is quieter than my cummins now . . but I didn't buy my ram to please the neighbors, nor to race gassers. I bought it to tow and for durability.

Haven't seen anything I'd trade my for yet . . Just in case my ol' lady is watching #ad

Yau'll have a great and safe holiday from us down here in New Orleans!
