"Now I buy only Pacific pride fuel and the local dealer treats it before he sells it.
Not sure what he adds but it runs better then any other fuel I have ever bought. "
Maybe... Maybe NOT!
I have been a PP customer for about 6 years, since the company I retired from 4 years ago used them for our commercial fleet, and we (at that time) got a rate discount. As time has passed, the "savings" from PP has evaporated, they are now as high or higher than the lower priced stations in this area, and at best only slightly lower than the big name-brand places on the freeways... I asked the local PP office what refinery they got their fuel from, and was told the bought from whatever supplier was passing thru the area when the tanks needed refilling - but USUALLY they said they bought from Union, Texaco or Chevron - and sometimes a couple of less popular brands. AND Pacific Pride DARNED sure doesn't "treat" the fuel any additional to whatever the refinery does!
SOOOoo - chances are, the brand you filled up with at PP a few weeks back is NOT the same you fill up with today - and it CERTAINLY is not always a bargain - at least not in THIS area!
The only remaining advantage locally, is that the station is open 24 hrs a day, and rarely a line to wait on - the cardlock bit is no longer an issue, since pretty much ALL stations have the option for a credit card right at the pump... I've started buying my diesel at the nearest Flying J - it's the cheapest around, and if you get their card, you get an additional discount... Last time for fillup, the local PP station price (I call the office to check current pricing) was $1. 91 - Flying J was $1. 62... and that was before the additional 1 cent per gallon Flying J discount to their cardholders. I think *I* am about all through with Pacific Pride...
