I used to use Powerservice cleaner every couple tanks in the summer, and there white bottle every tank in the winter when its below 20 deg. This winter it got cold and I bought Howes, it cleans, winterizes and cost around the same. I notice all the truck stops sell cases of the stuff so I switched.
Plus the engine seems to be quieter with Howes.

Now I buy only Pacific pride fuel and the local dealer treats it before he sells it.
Not sure what he adds but it runs better then anyother fuel I have ever bought.

anyone have experience with either of these products/brands?

(their biocide? I've heard great things about Racor, but its scarce relatively speaking)

I really like Stanadyne performance formula. It adds cetane for performance. It all so lubricates, cleans, and lowers the pour point 40 degs. I buy it by the case. (12/16oz bottles)1 bottle treats 60gals. Run one full bottle in your first tank. I think Diesel injection service out of Texas sells it for $4. 20 a bottle. Thats $2. 10 per tank. Hope this helps.

Maybe... Maybe NOT!

I have been a PP customer for about 6 years, since the company I retired from 4 years ago used them for our commercial fleet, and we (at that time) got a rate discount. As time has passed, the "savings" from PP has evaporated, they are now as high or higher than the lower priced stations in this area, and at best only slightly lower than the big name-brand places on the freeways... I asked the local PP office what refinery they got their fuel from, and was told the bought from whatever supplier was passing thru the area when the tanks needed refilling - but USUALLY they said they bought from Union, Texaco or Chevron - and sometimes a couple of less popular brands. AND Pacific Pride DARNED sure doesn't "treat" the fuel any additional to whatever the refinery does!

SOOOoo - chances are, the brand you filled up with at PP a few weeks back is NOT the same you fill up with today - and it CERTAINLY is not always a bargain - at least not in THIS area!

The only remaining advantage locally, is that the station is open 24 hrs a day, and rarely a line to wait on - the cardlock bit is no longer an issue, since pretty much ALL stations have the option for a credit card right at the pump... I've started buying my diesel at the nearest Flying J - it's the cheapest around, and if you get their card, you get an additional discount... Last time for fillup, the local PP station price (I call the office to check current pricing) was $1. 91 - Flying J was $1. 62... and that was before the additional 1 cent per gallon Flying J discount to their cardholders. I think *I* am about all through with Pacific Pride...

Someone recommended the Racor to me, and I've been using it for about two months. I am noticing better startups and cold running and have picked up a little better than 1. 5 mpg (with winter fuel). It's concentrated: one ounce to 20 gallons at @ $6 a 16 oz. bottle. The bottle has a measurment chamber, so measuring and pouring is easy. So far I like it.

Power Service in every tank since the 'fuel filter dipped in snot" incident. Works for me, I have had no problems with it. When the warm weather comes back I will use it every couple of tanks instead.
