Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Aren't you suppose to hear the fuel pump run everytime the key is turned on?

I was tinkering around doing some stuff that required me to turn the key on and off and I noticed that the fuel pump wasn't running like it usually does when the key is turned on.

Only momentarily when you turn the key on. If you bump the starter it will run for 25 sec. If you hear neither, then relay, fuse or LP may be bad.

Ok, I bump the starter and it does run but it's kind of intermitent and sounds weak.

Well, you can pull off the rubber hose between the FF and VP44, put a 2' length of hose onto the FF side, and dump it into a tub. 44 ounces minimum should pump out during the 25 sec run.



Otherwise you can just change the LP.



Either case recommend you get a FP guage.
