DIESEL selling in Albuquerque for $3.05/gal.

From Scientific American

This is a work in progress, but here are a few shots of my latest project.

At first, I wasn't sure how it would work out... but the effort was well worth it. The little 5. 5hp Launtop (carbon copy of a Yanmar... ) diesel has an unreal amount of torque compared to the old gasser 7hp Tecumseh. It'll drag you across the garage floor in high gear with the impeller engaged and not bring the RPM's down even at a low engine speed.

I have no idea how hard it will be to start this engine in the winter. I'm willing to be the test pilot, though.

Up next is a smoke stack with rain cap! :D (Yes, it blows smoke!)

hey matt just get a magnetic block heater and stick it to the side. let me guess it was a direct bolt up, wasn't it. I remember the day you got that. out in the parking lot at Indy revving it up smoking out the parking lot. some peoples kids and there snowblowers.

P. s. you know now that you have a bad ***** snow blower it wont snow :-laf

Few things in life are more satisfying than operating a machine that silhouettes a cloud of black smoke against white snow. I see a lot of satisfaction in your future.

I have a new 6. 5 horsepower Yanmar (NOT the chinese knock off!) that I am going to put on a wood splitter one day and a used liquid cooled 14 horsepower Kubota engine for a future generator project. The new (never used 2004 model) Yanmar engine smokes pretty good, even with nothing hooked to it. It is similar to the 10. 5 horse air cooled Yanmar engines we have on our company service truck air compressors... electric start, self contained charging system, same "footprint" and accessory hook up provisions as similar power range gassers.

I want a Hatz vertical shaft 4 or 5 horse for a push mower! :D

That is a cool snow blower too. Don't have any need for that down here in good ole Dixie though!

Matt I still think that ought to go into the go-cart. It was funny watching you play with that at Indy, same look in your eyes as watching the buses go around a circle track... ... ... ..... later, Jim.

"I got my liter of cola, and I am off to the races... ..... lol"

I'd like to get a small diesel like that to power a refrigeration unit for the cab of my first gen. Turn it on when i park in the middle of a parking lot on a hot day and come back an hour later to a nice cool cab.
