Dodge diesels will get high-tech emission gear

Okay, tug of war may come to tire traction, but when a 04 Cummins draggs the hell out of a 04 Dura Dud with a lot better tires than I had, what then? I was in two wheel drive and he was too when we started, but tried shifting on the fly and ended up eating up his transfer case. His whole frond end gernaded... . He now drives a Ford Explorer... See if he talks sh^% again... . We where at a party at a frends house and he kept calling me out and starting calling me a Pu*** and my truck a piece of Sh**... I come from a small town, so word spread like wild fire, no one will buy that truck, been sitting on the fords lot for some time now. I love my 6 speed :-laf

I believe the above pictures speak for themselves. Those (ford,GM) who venture into uncharted waters with their new diesels are doing okay but Cummins has been a diesel giant since day one with their Inline design you just can't beat it, I have a cousin who owns a powerstroke '97, he loves the truck its a 5speed and i can't lie i have driven many a powerstroke while i worked for another company, My cousin says you can't beat that Inline Cummins. But i think SHobb's pictures above speak for themselves, sometimes size does matter lol.

Okay, so these guy's do not have anything better to do so let's drag race next. Cummins and Duramax are 05's. Cummins is a 6 speed and Duramax an automatic. Cummins has the lead at the start but after rowing the gears gets beat buy a fender length. Speed wise unloaded they hung together for the last part after the shifting ended. For an unloaded drag race it appeared both were pretty evenly matched for HP. I wonder what they will try next.

Lokk at it this way. Both trucks bombed used for towing and daily driving with all the routine maintainance. Which one will outlast the other? Sure a bombed Furd or Duradud may get me in a tug of war or a race, but my Cummins was built for work and not speed and will far at last the other two hands down. Also which one was it again that is built for 400k between overhauls, is a true medium duty diesel and which ones are still on the road with hundreds of thousands of miles with very little work. It is obvious which dog in the three can hunt and be your best friend for years, the big blue C is the one. Like I said I did not buy the Dodge for the Dodge, I bought it for the Cummins.

I only stated the facts

You could go on about rods, longevity,I only bought a Cummins the 'Dodge" came with it ~ Blah Blah Blah.

A tug of war means nothing but who has traction. The Allison transmission 1st gear is low and comes out of the hole quick. With Resistance, and we all there is a enough power there to smoke the tires,Once that is done that equates to 'lost traction' anything can be reversed in it's own direction. The LBZ right out of the gate will spool the turbo and light the tires thru second gear stock.

A tug of war is child play, play on kids if you must. :D

Does anyone have that pic of the Cummins/Dmax/PStroke rod and pistons that I saw a while ago? That has to be one of the best pics to explain the difference in these engines.

well, traction is everything ,regardless of the engine. i have seen a 3/4 ton chevy with a 350 drag a 3/4 dodge cummins backwards. i have also seen a 1 ton ford with a 351 drag a 1 ton chevy with a 454 backwards. in both cases anyone can see that the higher output engined trucks should have won. all four of the trucks mentioned had enough power to spend the tires, but what type of tires were being spun on said trucks,or what weight difference was in the back of them, wheel base matters also. now as for hobbs picture, that dont look like any rod i have pulled out of a 6bt cummins. the lack of an offset at the crank journal is a dead giveaway, not to mention the size is contrast to a mans hand. looks more like one out of a m11 cummins.

I couldn't agree more, those Dara Dud and Power Joke Guy's can talk :-{} all they want, but deep down inside they know that the Cummins will out last their trucks hands down. If you have the money to buy a new truck every couple of years, do what ever floats your boat. Waste your money on those crappy JapaChevy's and Furds. I say the Cummins is the only way to go... . :-laf I still can't believe that GM went to Izuzu, but when your getting your A** kicked in the diesel market, I guess you'll do what ever you have to.

Why didn't you leave yours stock? Any additional power adders will shorten engine and drivetrain life. Longevity and it's reputation built for stock factory delivery.

Guess I'll have to see where you are in a couple years with wear and tear, huh?

Geez

I believe this is what sets the big boys from the little ones. Forget the tug of wars load them up and see who gets to the top. The pics below are one of the big reasons I bought my truck. My Cummins is just wrapped in a Dodge wrapper.

SHobbs... . is that a 5. 9 Rod/Piston assy? That seems by my eye a touch large...

Let's face it, all this dragging each other around means nothing. Give me enough weight & the right gearing I could drag any pickup you want to hook up around all day with a 5 hp lawn mower engine, & it wouldn't even need to be a Cummins... :D

Ok, I'll go back to my hole!

with enough traction you'll ether break something or drag it, like when i pulled the big lift at our yard out of a mud hole, the new guy buried it to it's axles and according to the data plate it's around 19,600 dry, so i pulled real close to 10 tons a foot up out of a hole with around 5 tons of truck/ballast

I haven't done anything crazy, the bully dog is set on 90 hp "Timing and duration" new turbo "Less back pressure", AEM Brute Force Intake with AFE Pro guard 7 filter and pre filter, ATS exhaust manifold and Arch flow manifold, 5 inch exhaust everything to help it breath easier, I don't see anything wrong with my mods that will hurt the long term longivity... . I have 109,000 miles in her and all I've done is change the oil and fuel filters. I'm not out to race as I'm a everyday guy that can't afford to buy a new truck every couple of years. The way I take care of my truck, it's a safe bet that I'll make at least 500,000, let's see how many Dara max's and Power jokes make that mark, with "confidence"<---key word... ... :-laf

I wasn't going to point that out (thanks),And there is no DURAMAX rod picture either.

The reason I ask is... . I have a funny knock. It's what I think, to high pitched to be lower end rod knock. If that picture is "good" then that tells me that it's more than likely the wrist pin.
