I was told that Arizona does not smog diesels? Is this a load of **** or the truth? I just put an Edge Juice/Attitude and a Volant Free Folw intake. I am waiting for my MBRP Free flow Turbo back exhaust. Will this pass if I have to get smogged or will I have to put it all back to stock every other year? Any help would be great!

Just incase if it matters I have a 2005, 2500 4x4 auto. Cummins.

I don't know of any state that requires smog test for diesels. I live in California and they don't require it here , This state seems to be on the cutting edge of smog laws.

Yes Arizona does test. Maricopa county, Apace junction and I believe Tucson. Where are you?. I turn off the fueling box and only give 3/4 throttle during the test. It is a total of 6 idle to full throttle blasts and I believe it is $27. 00 a year to abuse your engine like this.

I forgot to say that the "new vehicles" do not have to be tested for 5 years. My first test was 2004 for a 1999.

AZ Emissions

A well positioned wood "Wedge" that limits Accelerator pedal is the best bet... . I have a Std issue block that we use every time we have to take a truck down...

The good thing is that AZ measures Opacity (Smoke) and not much else... . turn the juice down when you enter the testing center and turn it back when you leave..... I have been doing this for years on my 82 Shovelhead... . I usually adjust the carb back to normal while I am waiting for the printout.

If you register up here in Flagstaff there's no smog testing on anything, any year! At least for now, I'm sure they'll get around to screwing us sooner or later. Even with all the tree huggers up here it hasn't happened yet, but when they do I'm screwed! All my gasser vehicles run Flowmasters, headers, and certainly no cats! My diesel definately isn't gonna have one.

Washington used to... my first ride was an 84 mercury lynx with a 4 cyl yokohomo diesel and a 5 speed. it failed twice due to to much carbon monoxide (IIRC as it was about... 8 years ago)

No smog testing in Yavapai county either. I hear we are on the list though.

Then I am screwd. Everything I have is hotrod status, except my diesel.

Washington state NO smog check for vehicles 5 years or newer. After the 5th year even diesels must pass the smog test:( every other year.

Off to the side of the on ramps to the interstate from downtown Tucson there is usually an emissions sniffing van with all the latest catch'em gadgets set out. Do you know how tempting that is. The only thing that stops me is thinking the one time when I floor it there wouldn't be enough smoke like usual to black out the license plate from the camera.

They are "supposed" to look for the CAT but I always watched and they never looked. They are too busy putting on the gas-masks and scrambling to get the diesel-checking equipment hooked up.
