I'm putting ARP head studs in my 1st gen and o-ringing the head, and the sheet wasn't clear about retorqueing the head. Do I or not? And do I just retorque, or loosen and retorque each one?

I don't want any problems down the road so any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,

pete

I have been individually loosening and retorqueing on my customers trucks. I do about 1/4 to 1/2 turn loose and then torque to spec. I have found that two or three retorques on the really high HP engines is enough to set the stretch.

Do o-rings crush like fire rings?

If not ARP told me just to check the tq, which is static tq, but it's plenty according to them. On my motor nothing moved.

One other thing I did was after the first pass at 125 I plugged the block heater in for a few hours and did a 2nd pass at 125 and got 1/8 to 1/4 turn on all of them.
