I'm not big on salad, but I eat it because it's good for me. So. . What did I sit down to for dinner tonight? A salad full of weeds! Yes! Weeds!



Mrs Doc says lettuce is too expensive, so I gotta eat weeds! Arrrgggggg!!!!

Growin' up poor and living in the country, we used to pick young Poke and Lamb's Quarter and put it in salads. Made the mistake of picking mature Poke once--it is pretty poisonous and I thought I was gonna die of the stomach-ache.

It is amazing what I find on the dinner table in the summer and early fall. At a pot luck one day, one of the neighbors asked her (only kidding) what she got out of the barrow ditch for her dish?

sometimes in the fall when the weeds are dry my wife makes me take her for a country drive and she will suddenly say stop, she then proceeds to put hair spray on some weeds , picks them and she than decorates the house with them in a big pot or a vase now the confusing part is that other neighboring woman want to know where she bought them , some of these misterious creatures even offer to buy the weeds from her and she says NO



Doc , ask your woman if the weeds she is serving is free from hair spray:-{} , this would kill you or maybe they would just make you stiff too ... ... Kevin

Hmm...
Here in central jersey at the fancy dancy supermarkets they're getting 5. 99/lb for "gourmet salad mix" - in other words weeds. I thought it kinda silly that last spring they were selling dandelion greens for 2. 99 a pound.

Only iceberg lettuce in my house - it holds the ranch dressing and mixes well with the taters and beef
