Art Carr
Art Carr has been building trannys since the 50's, started out in So. El Monte, moved to Fountain Valley in the 70's, and now has SOLD his business to some group of guys in Reno, and has retired, (as of 3 or 4 years ago). He built one heck of a stout transmission, (auto), but school is out on the new group. I talked to them about a transmission for a built 455 Olds, they told me no way on a 700R4, based on where the Olds makes its max torque. 700R4 would turn to mush in short order. They didn't have to do that, could've just sold me a R4 and said "oh well". Sounds like there is some ethics there, but I'd stay w/ DTT or equivlent, these people know what a diesel does to a transmission. Good Luck.
