Hi Fellas,
I'll try to answer some of your questions. First off, my apologies for posting the thread on the forum - it should have gone on the classifieds, where it is being moved to. Thanks BushWakr for the advice and tips.
We tried to use the stock filter with the new intake but they wouldn't mate up - so we couldn't test just the tube, and I wasn't brave enough to test it without a filter.
The turbo whine difference between the stock airbox and the kit was, well, there wasn't any before. It sounds like music now - probably the same as the BAHF filter w/o the airbox. We've messed a lot on V-8 big blocks and small blocks with rippled stock inlets and new aftermarket ones, and there was a difference on the dyno, though not really noticable without the numbers. I got the idea from the aftermarket kits out there for the majority of the imports.
The first thing I noticed was I gained just over 1 mpg on a pure long-distance trip to LA and back - about a 7 hour round trip. Around town it wasn't as much, probably about . 5 mpg if that. It seems the kit is good for efficiency most, and it dyno'd 2 hp to the rear wheels in od w/ 3. 54's. My engine has 214k miles on it and is stock otherwise, so the gains may be more on a decent mill. Love to get one out to the folks running big hp and tq numbers to see.
One TDR member has inquired about using the BHAF filter and our Intakes - by the numbers it should mate up, but without having one I'm not positive these are long enough. I'm going to put the stocker back in this weekend and see how close it comes, and I'll post a reply back on that.
Happy to help fellas - That old stock stuff just looked really bad - I like the looks more than anything else
Later on -
- Sam
