After a chain came off (right front-and it didn't wrap itself and do any damage) when we were trying to get up a big hill... . the ABS and Brake lights came on. We looked under the rig and can't see where anything was (injured) i. e. the wires for the ABS look all in tact. We tried to clear the codes using the Smarty Jr and it said "NO DTC Codes" it gave the option to clear - but nothing happened... .

Thoughts

I don't think the Smarty can read the ABS computer, which would explain why it couldn't delete the code.

My first guess is you took out the ABS sensor wire, but you're saying the wire is intact. By "right front" you mean the passenger side, correct?

I'd double check that wire - trace it all the way up into the engine compartment.

On my wife's suburban, the ABS light came on, I did a visual inspection and found that the sensor wires were cut by some sort road hazard. I soldered the wires back and shrink wrapped them and all is fine now. Possibly, your chains could have caused a similar situation.
