My wife and I searched for about a year before buying our new home. The neighborhood is on 1+ acre lots and I was told every time I asked, that it would be OK to park the 5th wheel here and about 50% have trailers. Well, now the town secretary ( a big sad sack ) has sent out an email to some of the residents calling the neighborhood "a trailer park" and wants to be elected to the new association so he can save us all from the plague of declining property values. #@$%!

I found out about this by his neighbor who came by after getting the email. Apparently this guy (town secretary) is one of those "if I cant have it, neither can you!" types. What makes this even more bothersome is this guy has been taking pictures of my house! I went to his office a few months ago to ask about a building permit and was constantly having to placate him to keep the conversation polite. :-{}

Anyway, it appears this guy is seriously out voted and will have a conflict of interest if he is on the association. No doubt I will be on it though:-laf

It just burns me this guy is making inflammatory statements, behind peoples backs, trying to play the "property value card". Being able to use your property makes it valuable:rolleyes:

I spent almost 300 on the house and 10 on the pad for the RV which is behind the house and will be behind a fence in due time. I just hate thinking I might have to put the RV back in storage after spending all this money...

What do your convenants state regarding the parking of RVs, trailers, etc. ?

If you don't have a convenant restricting same then you could be "grandfathered" in. That is, if there is nothing restricting use now.

I've been on a Home Owner's Board for a few years (not this year though).

I was tired of dealing with people complaints.

Good luck.

Thanks, there's nothing in them about RV's. I read them VERY carefully prior to buying.

Towns are different animals. I have to keep on top of things every month if I don't want to get blindsided.

When I purchased an add'l acre with sheds and a barn next to my property I suddenly found out in the local newspaper the town board was going to discuss my property's condition. Without the newspaper I would not have even known of said meeting. I plead my case that I needed some time to cleanup, which I did and have since restored the barn and burned down the old sheds.

Everyone is happy now and I get lot's of inquiries of the barn.

Anyway, I can store all my toys in the barn and out of sight of any neighbors now. I know I would never be happy in a subdivision where they have all these rules to live by. :-laf
