On our annual 3 week vacation this year we are going to stay a little closer to home I think. We were thinking of going back to Colorado to visit our friends in Greeley or maybe back up to LaConner WA, we really love that area of the PNW.

With the price of diesel surely to hit $3. 00 by summer, I think maybe we'll just spend the time on the Oregon Coast again, a week in Seaside and a week or so in Newport.

I, like so many others here, refuse to completely stop RVing due to fuel prices, but maybe not having the discretionary income others do, will stay a little closer to home.

I think the price of fuel has already impacted the RV world. At this time last year we could not keep up with the demand for new trailers and the transport business was very busy. This year the orders for new trailers is trickling in and transporters are hurting. We are driving fewer miles and paying more for fuel when we are on the road. People who already own trailers and only pull them 2 or 3k a year are sucking up the increased price of fuel, but the new buyers are not out there from what I see.

The price of diesel impacts every thing we buy. It is only a matter of time before every trucker out there decides enough is enough and either parks his truck or drives 45 mph down the interstate to make a statement. If and when that happens I will be one diesel owner driving at 45, and the sooner it starts the happier I will be.

GAmes, I agree with your statement on the impact on RV sales, But I hope the reference to 45mph travel doesn't materialize. My rig runs best around 60mph and I can tow in overdrive at that speed (barely). No way my automatic could stand the low line pressures if I tried to drive at 45, and I don't think the ctd would run efficiently either. Straight drive nets me a loss of about 1 1/2 -2 mpg. Just my $. 02 worth. Yes I'm nearly 70 also, and I won't give up till I have to, either. Charlie.
