Mine went right at 100,000 miles. I had developed a leak around the front of the engine and could not for the life of me find exactly where it was. When I fixed my KDP I wiggled the water pump pulley and it almost came out in my hand! Leak found! I got a new one from the dealer for about $100 although I later learned NAPA had one for about $60.

Mine's a 1st gen, but I had it go out on me at about 180k. I didn't know anything about the TDR then, so I ended up spending $300 for a tow into Las Vegas, and about $350 at the 5 star dealer (forget the name, but it was at the northern end of LV).

Wish I knew then what I know now...

RudeRam,

I noticed in your signature that your truck is set up pretty much as I am going to do my 97 auto. I installed a mild torque plate and after performing the necessary mods to the transmission I was then going to upgrade to a more aggressive plate and the 370's. My question is, how much noticeable power is realized with the injectors and do you notice any reliability problems related to extended idling? I'm concerned with the idling since I also use my truck to remove snow here in the North East. Also, do you experience a great deal more smoke;)? Thank you in advance for your reply.

Now at 232K with the same one but now I do get a smell of anti -freeze but don't see any leaks. I'll just keep on looking.

143,000 + and still going strong. I do carry a spare which I bought "just in case" last year. I change my coolant every 24,000 miles and mix it with distilled water.

Happy trails

Turbo Thom, mine had a minor leak at the head gasket at the rear drivers corner. Found my radiator cap was not functioning and replaced it. No more leak. Did add two bottles of bar seal. My . 02

Mine's still working great. When the KDP was sacrificed (death by jigging), the pump shaft felt like it still had very close tolerances when trying to wiggle it.
