just proving a point here, At what mileage has your P-pump died for whatever reason. And i mean DIED, won't run, dead. Thanx, Reb

Reb,

On my personal trucks I've not had a failure. No problems with a VE, P7100 or VP44. I've seen P7100 pumps fail at just over 100,000 miles and higher. Most of them didn't die but made metal or failed on one or two cylinders. Purchased a core 175hp pump that was replaced recently for just that. I worked on a '94 CTD that a large diesel repair shop had installed new injectors---then told the customer he had pump trouble. I drove it, thought the timing was off (they said they had checked it) and found the timing pin to be considerably off. It ran fine after I properly set the time. This '94 had only 80,000 miles on it :--). Larry

buddy of mine, 95 std cab under 100k, this was last year. . so the first pump i ever saw fail was a p pump... . not a vp, he he he I know this was not the answer you were looking for

Seen plenty of P pumps fail, but a simple rebuild is typically the fix. Interestingly, I see more VE pumps fail than VP/VR pumps... Those older pumps are really sensitive to water contaminated fuel. VP/VR pumps have proven quite reliable, provided they have a strong fuel supply.

Reb. B:

I have almost 185,000 miles on my P-7100 and have

NEVER had any problems with it. My truck is also

NOT "stock" and I run it pretty hard!
