well I have been to 3 of the local auto parts stores and all have said that as far as they know no one makes synthetic trans fluid that meets ATF+3 spec's is this true ? if not were can I get it and what brand is it?

I bought a B&M transmission pan oil drain plug kit today does any one have any experence with them?... . do they stay tight to the pan?

are there other kits that would be better to consider?

GBerry,

As far as your question on ATF +3, Amsoil makes a synthetic that meets this spec. I see that you have a 2001 Ram, some of them require ATF +4... . Again Amsoil sythetic ATF meets this spec as well. If you go to the dealer the regular ATF +4 will set you back $7-$9 per quart! Amsoil is around $6 per quart. There are several TDR members that can get Amsoil products for you (some at cost).

As far as the B&M products I used them many years ago on my hotrods. Seemed to be an OK product. Not really sure exactly what your question related to considering "other kits" but I don't know anyone who has been disappointed in DTT upgrades for their transmission;).

Good luck,

Redline also has a synthetic, the C+. This is spec'd for the ATF+3 (7176) for Chrysler. You'll have to locate a dealer from their website. www.redlineoil.com/

If no dealers close by, call them direct. I found a dealer in town that was not listed on the site.

thank you all for the responses and the info:)

Race Central is close enough and deals Red Line products but I dont know if I saw transmission fluid or not I'll call them and find out !

JetPilot in my owners manual it say's +3 hum maybe I should call the dealer just to make sure?..... not that they know anything:rolleyes:

thanks again all!!!!;) GB

GBerry,

As for the ATF +4 sometime during the 2001 run they switched from ATF +3 to ATF +4... That being the case ATF +3 may be applicable for your truck. If your owners manual says ATF +3 then you should be fine using either type.

I installed Amsoil universal ATF after my DTT upgrades and have been pleased with it. Good luck and I would stay away from the dealer if I were you:rolleyes:
