Is atf+4 only a dealers item or can one purchase it at an auto parts house? What should a gallon cost? I was quoted by my local dodge dealer at $44. 90 + tax a gallon. . is this about the going rate? I call a local Checkers and they didn"t have any. .

I recently changed to transmission fluid in my auto.

Valvoline makes ATF+4 now it was half the price of the Mopar ATF+4 ($3. 49/Qt. ) @ Checker in Golden Co.

My Dealer in Lakewood quoted me $29. 00/Gal. , sounds like your dealer is really trying to put it to you!

The Valvoline works great no difference except price!

Amsoil makes a replacemtent oil that meets and exceeds the specs of the ATF+4 I am going to use it in my 6 speed at the next service schedule.

I used it in my 99 with the automatic and the transmission stopped shuttering when I used to much foot in the throttel.

No flames intended here.....

I'm hearing these statements that Valvoline now makes ATF+4. Well, every quart of Valvoline I've looked at is NOT labeled ATF+4. Small print stating compatibility with ATF+4, blah, blah. I don't think that's the same.....

When someone posts a picture of a quart clearly labeling it in bold letters that it is ATF+4, I'll believe it.

Mopar formula is proprietary, AFAIK. I'm paying less than $18 per gallon at the dealer, and have no inside contact, nor do I ask any favors... . they just ring it up. At that price, it's comparable with other synthetics. I've used it for five years and 141K miles in my DTT.

Rumor has it that DC went public with the ATF+4 specs and that it can now be produced by other compaines. How you know if they actually meet the spec is still up for debate.

Thanks all of you,I'll go down to Napa tomorrow. I looked at the other web site listed and sure enough its atf+4 on the bottle. .

Pleas correct me if IM wrong. But dose DC or MOPAR not own or at least half own part of Valvoline?

So if that is the case it dose not suppress me that Valvoline is the first one on the market with the ATF+4.

your local napa should be able to get it by now . most of the local stores here were getting it in last week in small amounts mind you. I know napa can as that is where the fluid we used came from. I know I read in the last issue of the TDR that it was being lic. we have 2 advanced auto stores here they had 1 case between them. read your TDR guys, and join if you have not ;)

if I had the drivers for my camera I would post you a pic of the case, it was 3. 99 at napa and valvoline.

I just use dexronIII/mercon in my DTT, per the installers instructions. Only 35k so far but no problemo. Oh yeah 5. 79 a gallon at wallmart. Go ahead and flame me boys!! :D
