ATF drip / leak

I have atf dripping from the inspection plate.

This only happens when it's cold-like below 36deg-and warming up at home.

I do not notice any spots at my work parking space or thru out the rest of the day travelling.

It was 18deg this morning and was dripping alot warming up.

Now, not dripping at all.

Any ideas?

Make sure it's ATF and not coolant. There is a small by-pass hose above the turbo that if the clamps are slightly loose will leak coolant during warm up.

It could also be oil from the draft tube.

I am seeing the same type of leak on my 06 megacab and only when it is real cold.

Seemed to start when the temps dropped into low 40's. I will not have the time to take the truck to the dealer until next week. The truck has 4600 mi.

I also need to the dealer to check out why the lights keep going dim then bright every several seconds while the truck is idling and why this morning the truck barely had enough juice to turn it over.

That is perfectly normal. It's the grid heaters cycling. It will happen until either the engine compartment temp goes above 66 degrees F or you hit 18 mph, whichever happens first.

Thanks for the information Bob, it makes perfect sense. It doesn't get cold here very often so this was a first for me.
