Taking a poll to see what type ATF everyone is using and how you like the brand you have installed... .

Especially interested in synthetic and +4 brands. I need to change mine but want to get the best I can.

Thanks guys,

Doug S.

Hey Doug,

I'm running Amsoil synthetic trans fluid. Had it in there since about 30,000 miles. After changing both differentials, transmission, transfer case, and of course engine over to synthetics, I gained about 1 mpg consistently.

JNutter -

I spoke to LE about their transmission fluid, and it is currently not approved by Dodge, and they even went as far as to say that if I were to have any problems, the warranty for the transmission would be voided. That said, they are currently testing a fluid (I think it's their 7500) to get it approved. I too use their engine and differential oil, and thought they would have something for the transmission. If you've heard anything different, I would be interested to hear.

Ditto, though I only switched at 85K miles. 5K miles so far and no problems. And I didn't need friction modifiers in the diffs.

Have had the Amsoil ATF in transmission since truck had 8,000 miles, it now has 130,000. No problems. Mine does not require the +4 specification, but the Amsoil ATF does meet that specification. I did remove the fluid when I installed a Mag-hytec pan, but re-installed after installation. Did an oil sample at that time, and the report came back as "continue use".

Do I need the +4? I just bought some +3 for an upcoming change. My manual says +3, but is there new info?

I am using AMSOIL Synthetic ATF. The best benifit is a major drop in operating temperature. At least a 15 degree drop solo and same when towing. I am also using MagHytecs deep trans pan.

A friend has my old '95 Ram and switched to AMSOIL ATF. He is seeing the same temp drop with the stock trans pan.

Amsoil was installed by the dealer when my trans was REPLACED at 128,000.
