I had a guy tell me today that he uses ATF for a DFA. Anyone else ever heard of this? Says he put 300K miles on one of his trucks using ATF in his fuel and that it never ran better. He uses 1/2 a quart per tankful. Had me doing one of these:rolleyes:

Doug,

If you have a 24 valve DON"T DO IT! the new pumps don't need anything with friction modifiers in it... ... ... very bad thing... ... ... If you want use Power Service or one of the others... ... ... . but don't use the ATF in the 24 valve... ... . Go to www.buyduralt.com and read about what they offer... ... ... . There is a thread for you to read in the products/accessories forum. https://www.turbodieselregister.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=38131

Happy reading... ..... e-mail me if you have questions or call Leonard @ Duralt.

Hey Eric,

I've got Duralt ordered, should have it in a couple day. I'm not about to try the ATF, just wondering if anyone else has heard of such a thing!! Maybe this guy's ready for the looney bin. Can't wait to give the Duralt a try, specially in the PT.

Been getting 26 to 28 mpg with it using STP gas treatment every other tank. I'll let you know if Duralt gives me better mpg's than that. In my truck I've been using Power Service and getting about 15 mpg, I'll see if that gets better also. It's going to be hard to give it a fair test, warm weathers here and fuel economy is getting better anyways. Winter blend will be gone soon to. I usually get about 10% better fuel economy with summer fuel.

Thanks,

Doug

Adding ATF to diesel is an old practice left over from the days when ATF had few additives and diesel fuel treatments weren't widely available. Nowadays it make no sense to use ATF when so many additives designed for diesel fuel are around and come out cheaper per gallon than ATF.
