A guy that works in the area with me has a 04 CTD company truck. This afternoon he tells me it's down because they have ATF in the coolant. Any ideas on how this could happen, short of someone pouring it in. Just curious.

Do you mean the transmission cooler that sits out in front of the radiator (above the power steering cooler). If so it would seem like there would be more than one hole. Looking under mine I see there is a silver block on the engine (drivers side towards the back) It has both a coolant line and the ATF line going into it. I have no idea what that is, so could it be a possible culprit?

Heat exchanger (trans cooler). located near the rear of the engine block.

This is where transmission fluid gets cooled by engine coolant and warmed by engine coolant when the temps are really cold out.

One could be leaking into another.

Thanks for the help, I'll mention the exchanger. Like I said though "not my truck" (not my problem). Just had me wondering.
