ATPA to officially add two Diesel Pickup Truck classes to Lucas Oil Power Pulling Series structure in 2005

CHARLESTOWN, Ind. (September 3, 2004) - The ATPA is in the process of finalizing plans for two popular Diesel Pickup Truck classes to be included - and officially recognized, as divisions on the Lucas Oil Power Pulling Series 2005 schedule.

Pro Street Diesel Pickup will be open to street legal pickup trucks fitted with single turbochargers, while Unlimited Super Stock vehicle rules are currently under consideration and are expected to be finalized by November.

“We strongly feel that this is the next developmental step in the sport of pulling and the ATPA is proud to be able to include these diesel pickup trucks into our Lucas Oil Power Pulling Series fold,” said Tom McConnell, ATPA founder and president.

As a preview, the Pro Street Diesel Pickup Truck class will be included as an exhibition class during the fall ATPA event at Cynthiana, Kentucky, on Saturday, October 16.

The ATPA is the largest organizational body in the sport of professional and sportsman truck and tractor pulling and will sanction more than 250 events nationwide in 2004.

Major sponsor support for the series, which includes it's nationally televised Lucas Oil Power Pulling Super Grand American Series (87-million U. S. household viewers on ESPN2 and 50-plus million on The Outdoor Channel cable TV networks) includes series title sponsor Lucas Oil Products, Jasper Engines & Transmissions, RealPower, Chevrolet/Duramax/GM, McCormick Tractor USA, Burns Best Alternative Heating & Cooling, Valco Cincinnati, Columbia Roof Coatings and others.
