install Pacbrake

Need new chip

Installed an ATS on a 12 valve today and had absolutely none of the problems others speak of. Just pounded the three pieces together with a soft hammer. Took about four hours. I can only figure the ATS was designed for a 12 valve and hasn't changed. Lowered egts about 50° and high egts seemed to take longer to reach.

ATS Bracket is DEFINATELY A

***! Some of you guys called like I did, and I got NO satisfaction! Except for the guy I talked to was really nice. Anyway, for the price they get for a "Farmed out" part that they have their name casted into, I think a little R&D on the subject is definately in order. Evidently they think it's so great that they don't have to give you a bracket that fits up, we'll fab one ourselves. I PERSONALLY think they should reimburse us or send us the one for the 12 valvers! Other than that, it is a good manifold.

Same thing here. It also fits the first gens great, just use a longer bolt on the heater bracket, bend it flat & it bolts right to the manifold.

The 12v are so much better :p

This is the type of indifference you get from those manufacturer's who don't have any competition in the marketplace. Drives me nuts.

ATS 3-piece manifold

So does anyone know anything about the ATS "Pulse Flow" exhaust manifold being redesigned or refined I should say ? It's on back order till next week.

I want to know if they fixed the coolant line bracket & having to drill two of the four turbo mount holes on the Gen 2 ? I heard its pressed together now.

Also does the new manifold come w/new hardware to mount it to the head or at least the two bolts people have to chase down cause the spacers don't fit?

I just ordered one last week & am trying to gear up in advance just so things go smooth !

Thanks---Proflow

Thats the problem w/searching & searching till your eyes are bloody.

If no one knows by the end of next week when I get mine, I'll give out the answer to the question. After digging for an earlier date of course ! :D

I was hoping to report the results of the new manifold, but once again --- it didn't show.

Back order, be there in two weeks, be there in a week, have it by Friday, Chewed someones arse, overnight shipping , ya right ! STILL NO MANIFOLD. STILL NO MANIFOLD.

Whatever. Any longer than tomorrow it gets returned to sender. Ya I'm ******.

Thanks for the rant & rave !!!---Proflow

Manifold is pressed together and should come with all the necessary mounting hardware,at least both of mine did. I had no issues with the water line mounting as it was correct for my 12v. They look nice when you put them on and will quickly look like crap later as their "high temp" coating is a POS. I also had two of them now leak terribly at the slip joint, one of my 12v manifolds and the one that is currently on my CR equipped with twins. I will never use them again and will move on to a different manufacturer for the next one. Hope your experience with them is better than mine. Its very frustrating when you spend almost $1500 on 3 of their manifolds and they do not stand behind their product at all... ..... Andy

Well, like I said, if its not here today it wont have a chance to see if its worthy or not over here. I'll just buy someone elses, its not like they have the only one out there anymore.

AFE is now making a s/s model for the 3rd gens, one piece so no problem for the guys that don't like having to realign a 3 piece after it gets bumped in shipping.

Just a quick heads up on the almighty invisible 3-piece manifold.

The vender I purchased from has been all over ATS , trying his arse off to get this mispromised manifold to happen.

Well he called at lunch time & got an answering machine saying they were all at lunch. Might wanna stagger shifts eh ?

You might think making & shipping the "new pulse manifold" advertised on the websight may be more important than packing your face w/a pp&j.

Especially when it has been paid in full, & promised out way before now.

So Vender X gets a call back after everyone is done w/lunch & ready to do business again, The story now is I'll see it this Wednesday. Ive already heard this crap before. So they knocked some cash off it if I dont do the return to sender & buy somewhere else. Such as B. D.

Any bets this thing is or is not in my hands Wednesday ?

This now will have me looking this thing over with a magnifying glass before it goes on my truck, if it even does. Quality better be impecable.

God I just love getting jacked around !!!

Wow, what a saga. Looking back at my post (#19 above), I never did get any reply on the hose bracket from them; I made my own. I had on-going issues with the manifold bolts loosening and backing out on my '01. I actually lost 2 from the upper front position; I finally put a standard lock washer on it and it stayed tight. The lower bolts in the middle and at the rear are almost impossible to check or tighten after the turbo and the other stuff is in place.
I never had any leakage issues. My manifold came in 3 pieces and I assembled it myself; center piece in the freezer overnight, end pieces in the oven to warm and expand them a bit, plenty of anti-seize, big rubber mallet, laid it all out on a piece of cardboard on the garage floor and drove it together... ... . sounds more difficult than it was.
I have the stock manifold on my '07 and will be watching to see how you do on this!
Thanks for the continuing story.

Update:

The mystery manifold finally did show.

First thing first was to take inventory. OK, the two upper center bolts still not included, however the useless bracket you may use on your kids bmx bike or to just throw in the deserving garbage did come with it. This along with old school dirrections.

I dont need to know how to assemble an assembled manifold.

I am glad its already put together but dont even think about trying & bolting this misaligned thing up to the head. The way I'm going to do this is simply straighten the 3 pieces flat & if evenly spaced w/the factory manifold, align the bolt holes w/bolts & spud bars before fighting it to the head. Hopefully I can set it flange to flange. Dunno yet. I held it up to the head & puked.

Not to continue *****ing but I'm not sure who is using that dinky little threaded hole as a pyro. It made for a decent center for enlarging to a more common EGT fitting. I currently run a Dakota Digital.

So the tap oil actually won the war with the speacial coating thats supposedly on these. I knew Krylon wasnt made for exhaust manifolds !

Thats all for now folks. Tomorrow I'll cut & fab a real bracket for the coolant line. Then all should be well.

Gee, in this economy, you would think they would try to address these on-going issues.
I will not be buying from them anytime soon... . if ever.

Trust me, If I could start over, it would have been done different.

My factory manifold isn't cracked. It needs to go in the classifieds.

I'm not done w/modding/making a real bracket & need to chase down a couple bolts before giving a performance/EGT report.

Proflow

I had gages on my '01 and I could not honestly say that the 3 piece manifold lowered my EGT's... . however, getting rid of the stock exhaust and putting on a 4" system with no muffler did indeed lower my EGT's... . by approx. 125 deg.

Are the ATS manifolds that bad ? I bought my HTT 3-piece exh. manifold from Rip Rook, at the same time I bought my 62/12 turbo from him. The HTT manifold came assembled. I checked it with a straight edge and it was perfectly straight. I fitted it up to the head and all the bolt holes lined up perfectly. The manifold was a breeze to install. I was pretty happy with it. I sprayed it with VHT High heat black and the paint still looks good. The ATS exh. manifold had a bigger name at that time and Rip Rook sold both. I asked him for the ATS manifold and he said "I'd rather sell you a HTT exhaust manifold we like them better". I guess he had his reasons to steer me towards the HTT. I hope I don't get Rip in trouble with this post, but now reading this thread, I'm glad he sold me a HTT manifold. Regards, Mike
