Put a 3-piece manifold together on a J. D. 4840 and that wasn't done without alot of  and #@$%!. Glad I was the only one in the shop when I was doing this, but I finally got it. Tried almost every hammer I had and pounding it on the floor.

I got some questions here...

#1 Has anyone gained any HP with the ATS ?

#2 Why aren't they pre-assembled?

#3 Can someone give me the Phone or Web-address to ATS so I can ask them these questions?

Thanx,

From what I've seen of the install process, the worst part is putting the pieces together... it is truly a brute force contest.

They will NOT leak at the joints.

It seems the ATS 3-pc manifold is a Good Thing. Since I have a few other things going on (the rear disc conversion kit just arrived), I wonder if I can put this off a while (about 20kmiles, specifically).

I examined the manifold upper attaching bolts & found the #3 and #4 tending virtually straight into the block and the #6 and #1 angling out slightly as they enter the block. So it's obvious shrinkage has occurred, but how can I estimate the level of danger that represents?

Any words of wisdom appreciated.

DBF, what I'd be watching is the gasket creep.

Check the gasket at each port, and look to see if it is starting to protrude around the edges. Usually #1 or #2 cyl. will be easier to see and happen first... . atleast that's what I've noticed anyway.
