Richard, I see some of your points, what Im trying to say is that if your making 50psi with a good single and 50psi with a good set of twins the air intake will be cooler from the twins at the same boost point because 50 psi for a good single is at the end of its efficiency whereas the twins are barely working and the compounding effect is more efficient in terms of keeping each turbo within its compressor map efficiency. Does it take more HP to drive twins? Alot of people could argue this but how much HP does it take to drive a single? Not much, so twins not much more. Yes more but not much since exhaust is WASTED thermal energy, backpressure should be the culprit here and what are the drive pressures for good twins and singles at over 50 PSI? If we were supercharging them thats a diffrent story.

If you are such a believer in singles why did you say that, "putting on twins will be quicker in the 1/4? Also you better hope that Wade (diesel power) doesnt read this because he may bad mouth your 800+ HP #'s on diesel only because he thinks he has the only one.

Richard, Im not bad mouthing or badgering anything about you or your way of doing things, Im just wanting to learn things. Im still fairly young and have a passion for this stuff. Could you tell us more about your truck and how its set up? You say you pull alot with it and I have a harder time doing that with the surging issues on the 66. What turbo? How many lbs of boost? pump mods, injectors? I hope youll be willing to share your set up with us so we can learn something from it.

as far as i know many are still waiting on proof of what wades truck can do. i know it is broken but instead of taking time to talk up a broken truck, go fix it and prove it.

mattymac, You should be used to it by now. A thread is missing something if Diesel Power isn't in it mouthing off. What we don't understand is that he has the FASTEST, most powerful, and best 3rd gen truck on the planet, with the best parts, from the best manufacturers. Its not hard to figure out... We are all doing something wrong... .

Where ya at wade! we would love to hear your input on ATS's twins, or twins VS singles. :D

Crazy to see how these threads turn out. Good entertainment at the minimum! :-laf

Looks like my customer is going to go with the Ats Twins. I have been tasked with selling his "old" turbo. Gotta love a guy that buys a brand new SPS 62 and 3k miles later goes "I want twins!" Well, those tools weren't designed to just sit in the tool box anyway! :D

By all means, don't let this kill the thread. I know others are getting alot of info out of this. I know i am. So, carry on! :D

Luken has anyone answered you about the "what best for daily driveing and 1/4 times" question

I am looking for the answers also

i am hunting for daily driven low 12 second high 11 1/4 times

what is the not only the fastest but the most RELIABLE/safest way to go?

That's what I'm looking for... I'll just keep the single for now... It's paid for :D

Hopefully some more will chime in... .

Well, with my twins, I have minimal lag, minimal smoke when I want to, and great fuel mileage. On the track, I have a best of 13. 2@108, but expect to beat that on the 22nd. I should be in the mid to low 12's.

#2 diesel, no drugs. Still running the stock CP3 pump (for now).

Build to date is -

TST PowerMax CR with Twins program

Superchips Flashpaq

BD Twins

100 hp Injectors

FASS 200gph (45psi)

Suncoast Full billet competition transmission

5" straight pipe into 5" stacks

Amsoil everywhere.

13. 2@108 was on the old FASS 150 that was running at a lower psi. Also, I wasn't launching hard enough. However, I can tell you the twins are giving plenty of air. At the end of the run my egts were 1250* !!

I think i'm gonna run the 22nd as well. I hope to be in the 11's. My best is 12. 28 so far and the truck gets 24. 4 MPG. Dieselnut, you would be much faster if u had an auto, so 13. 2 is very good. I mentioned earlier, that the big help from the twins, (at least with an auto) is the ability to keep boost and power up at all times, but the single will make more power top end. My last run the other day was 12. 40 @115. 115 should be in the 11's. After this week my time should be 11's and about 118. Also, if you guys with 4WD and if you lose traction, i got some good tires for you, ... street radials! M&H racemaster is Bakerfield has them. My Brother sells them, his number is 559-994-7303. They are same tires that the Bullydog PINKS truck was using.

ATS Twins

I have them. I just reported on DTR on this issue, fyi.

I'm not challenging DSTRB in his statement about NO lag,... as what I think you have when you get different opinions of what appears to be the same product is that they are not accompanied by the same products. Follow that?

I have lag in my setup on spoolup. Also consider I am pushing the 600hp range and have other contributing factors. I got my setup in Jan and have since put on a revamped A-2k turbo exh housing and I didn't frankly see much difference. There is an all NEW A-2k replacement that will be ready in 2 weeks according to Mike @ ATS. It is suppose to be the end all in spoolup issues so we will see soon.

What I experience is that I actually come out of the whole better at just half throttle. That's just accelerating and not boost braking. If you boost brake it is a rocket and NO complaints here. Once you light the big turbo your gone and that isn't long but I am most interested in performance however I do tow heavy also. For towing it is A-ok right now. I want instant low end out of the hole and it doesn't have it as is. ATS says this new turbo will solve that issue. If that is an A-3k I don't know.

Ordering and receiving the product was outstanding,... taking only 2 days. Fit was PERFECT. Finish was lacking in Jan this year in that the cold pipes were not as slick as I wanted. When I pointed that out they stepped up and now I have powdercoated perfect pipes. They do that on the twins they send out now,... I understand. The internal wastegate is a piece of art. That cast elbow with the wastegate exceeds by far anything out there,. . from what I've seen.

ATS is coming with different twin setups. At least two sets from what I understand and possibly three. At least one of the other offerings must be somewhat similar to Relentless' Artic Air where they utilize the oem turbo and probably the A-5k. We all know that is a very successful setup especially for performance. I would think ATS would offer that setup with the internal wastegate and elbow rather than the pop-off valves however. Don't know that,... just speculating.

All in all I am very pleased with my twins and their egt mgt under power.

I ask them to preset mine at 60psi and I get 62psi at wot which I am pleased with. I get to 1400 egt and it hits the wall and keep in mind that is stacked with the TST and PPE at wot. I don't tow at wot and turn everything down so egts are not an issue with this setup.

AWESOME!, these 33's on 20's are hurting me I think. How much time do you guys think I could gain (if any) by switching back to stock wheels with a good set of street radials?

For best times

Yes they are definitely hurting you. I recall AK RAM saying all he did was take off his (I believe) 315s and go to stockers and he dropped something like 3 or 4 tenths. That's a bunch in the quarter.

You coming up for the weekend Richard? Right on. We'll have to meet up!

Let me know if you need a hotel, I am working a deal with the local Holiday Inn Express for (I hope) a group rate or a discount. Right now they are $149 a night! :--)

I am runnning an Auto. I just wasn't launching it right. Driver error. Plenty of power to get there I think. I would be happy to see the low 12's, but I really want to hit the high 11's. Don't know I'm there yet!

OT-OF-HERE - So, then do you think I should have my customer hold off until the updated set is released?

Thanks for all the responses. This has been a very informative thread!
